The Assoc Dir, Linux/Unix Admin role is responsible for the management and support of the Linux and Unix servers under the management of the IQVIA CIO Cloud Services organization. This includes OS installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, migrations, monitoring, and performance tuning both on-premise and in cloud environments. The role is also responsible for working with internal and external customers in support of the environment. The ideal applicant should be a self-starter with a sense of ownership and have demonstrated experience in a 24/7 global environment working with other teams across the globe.
Required Experience

BS or MS in Computer Science or related major / or 10+ years relative working experience
10+ years of experience in Managing Linux and Unix platforms.
5+ years in a management role with multiple reports, extensive team lead experience could also be considered if right fit
Experience maintaining shift and on call rotations
Must possess good knowledge of Red Hat/Oracle Linux fundamentals and troubleshooting.
Must possess good knowledge on LVM concepts on creation, expansion and removal.
Good knowledge of networking concepts and troubleshooting
Must be conversant with storage related tasks related to Linux and VMware.
Moderate knowledge of remote management such as iLO, idrac, performing firmware updates, etc.
Knowledge of vCenter usage for performing VMware related tasks/activities such as snapshots, vMotions, etc.
Conversant with patching methodologies and procedures - knowledge of spacewalk preferable.
Basic knowledge on databases concepts preferably Oracle and MySQL and PostgreSQL.
Experience with Oracle RAC, ASM from server configuration side preferred
Knowledge of backup functionalities such as IBM's TSM, Actifio and/or Commvault for client-side administration and troubleshooting.
AIX, HP-UX and Solaris experience a plus.
Must be capable of conducting RCA for repeated incidents.
Good knowledge of ITIL concepts, prioritizing tickets, dealing with SLA, etc., ITIL certified is preferred.
Should be willing to work on 24/7 shifts and handle on call.
Strong interpersonal skills and communication is a must.
Docker/Kubernetes knowledge a plus
DevOps mindset to includer Puppet, Foreman, ansible automation.
Exposure in foreman, puppet, git, jenkins, spacewalk, collaboration, ansible, kickstart
Cloud experience (Azure is a plus)

Responsibilities

Execute & manage daily (24x7) Linux and Unix systems administration operations, including routine operations and maintenance, Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, Crisis Management & Disaster Recovery across multiple technologies & teams to deliver high quality & stable services.
Manage IT operational support team while complying and meeting company standards, contractual requirements & deliverables
Manage technology projects, including working with multiple vendors and company resources to deliver projects on-time and within budget
Develop & implement plans & objectives for the team in an effective & innovative fashion
Manage infrastructure operations environment and system availability for both physical and virtual Linux, Unix, and clustered environments.
Drive customer engagement and satisfaction with all support teams
Manage audit and security responsibilities that include routine reviews and reporting of technology policies and security compliance.
Develop strategies to maintain and support all servers with a goal to maximize availability and uptime.
Maintain and improve best practices and standardize processes across the Linux team.
Identify opportunities for operational efficiency through innovation and integration.
Manage and contribute to data migration projects.
Manage the team(s) and help them to achieve high levels of operational excellence.
Perform regular performance reviews of, and goals setting for, staff members.
Author SOPs, configuration specifications and related technical documentation.
Partner with the business units to develop effective solutions that solve business challenges
Mentor and train all members on team on support and troubleshooting.
