Position
NHS Highland is seeking a third Breast Surgeon to join our multi‑disciplinary team in Inverness. The post will replace a colleague retiring this year and will work in the Highland Breast Centre, which hosts the North of Scotland Breast Screening Service and provides specialist symptomatic service for NHS Highland and NHS Western Isles. The Centre manages around 300 new breast cancer diagnoses each year.
Responsibilities
Provide the surgical service for diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer patients. Experience of oncoplastic breast surgery is strongly desirable. The role offers opportunities to contribute to teaching and research with close links to the University of Aberdeen.

Team & Services
The post is based at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness. You will be one of three Consultant Breast Surgeons providing comprehensive service for both screening and symptomatic patients in a purpose‑built department – the first of its kind in Scotland. We support a multidisciplinary team including Advanced Practitioners, Advanced Practice Radiographers, a qualified film reader, Breast Care nurses and future hires of a Consultant Radiographer and an Advanced Nurse Consultant.
Collaboration & Growth
The Highland Breast Centre benefits from collaboration within the North Cancer Alliance and the North of Scotland Breast Screening Service, working closely with other Cancer Centres in Grampian and Tayside and five other screening centres across Scotland. One of the Surgeons serves as Regional Clinical Lead for Breast Cancer. We maintain a funded referral pathway to specialist plastic surgical services in Livingston.
