Part-Time 3 days (24 hours) per week

About us

The Glencree Centre for Peace & Reconciliation works with individuals and groups to transform conflict, promote reconciliation, encourage healthy relationships and build sustainable peace.

We are an Irish-based, independent, non-governmental organisation. Founded in 1974 in response to the conflict in Northern Ireland, Glencree played an important role in the Irish Peace Process, bringing together those in conflict for confidential dialogue and helping to build relationships across divides. As well as our ongoing work on the island of Ireland, our perspective and expertise has been shared in more than ten conflict and post-conflict countries around the globe.

Much of our work takes place at our Peace Centre in the Wicklow mountains, a welcoming place of hospitality and friendliness, a quiet, strong space, surrounded by nature and steeped in history. We also work within the communities we serve. We bring together former enemies, opposing political factions, people who have suffered tremendous trauma, distrust or feel hatred toward the other, and provide an enabling environment where they can talk and listen to each other as they seek to transform divisive relationships.

Role Description

The Corporate Development Manager is a key member of the Senior Management Team and is responsible for the management and operational responsibility of Governance and Compliance, Human Resources, Customer Relationship Management and Procurement. S/he will work closely with the CEO and the Senior Management Team, in addition to supporting board members, staff and consultants. S/he will report to the CEO and will act as a central co-ordinator of Glencree's support requirements, which are delivered by the administrative staff. The Corporate Development Manager will have central oversight on all Glencree projects.

Key Responsibilities

Governance and Compliance

· Ensure Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation (Glencree) is fully compliant and operating in accordance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements as a charity and as company limited by guaranteed.

· Ensure that the Glencree Executive team meet the needs of the Board and external funders to demonstrate excellence in corporate governance.

· Support the CEO and Financial Controller as Secretariat to the Glencree Board and at Board sub-committees and Working Groups.

· Act as the Designated Person under Glencree's Policy on Safeguarding of Children and Vulnerable Persons; the Glencree Safety Officer under Glencree Health & Safety Policy; Glencree's Data Controller under its GDPR policy, the Complaints Officer under the Complaints Policy and other roles as designated by the CEO.

Development, Project Management and Procurement

· Within the duties ascribed to the role, to exercise overview over all live programmes which Glencree is delivering from inception to completion. This includes new or ongoing projects concerned with the development of Glencree assets and regeneration of the site, in line with its strategic aims.

· To scope out new business opportunities and help to create new business models to maximise revenue for Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation.

· To proactively support the Chair and CEO in maintaining existing partnerships and in building and developing new strategic alliances with funders, corporate partners, philanthropists and donors, taking particular note to ensure that stakeholder engagement is varied, consistent and well-managed.

· Ensure that the design and implementation of Glencree programmes and activities provide for the interaction and engagement of donors/funders in an appropriate and consistent way.

· Support the CEO and Senior Management Team to develop, implement and administer procurement processes for contract arrangements, goods and services as appropriate to the work of the Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation, its site and that they are compliant with good governance practices.

Customer and Staff Relationships Management

· Proactively manage systems and processes that support effective and appropriate customer relationships management across Glencree and Glencree Visitors' Centre.

· Proactively support the CEO, Financial Controller and Programme Managers to secure the financing of fully funded or co-funded activities at Glencree from a range of statutory, philanthropic or corporate or individual donors on the island of Ireland and internationally

· With the CEO, develop strategies to maintain positive relationships with existing and prospective programme partners, statutory, philanthropic, corporate and voluntary sectors, and with Glencree members and alumni by promoting Glencree's unique positioning and contribution on the island of Ireland and internationally.

Advise the CEO and Senior Management Team of emerging needs of customers/external stakeholders and ensure appropriate responses are developed and implemented to such needs.

· Provide HR support to managers and staff in relation to people management and the implementation of policies, ensuring they are up to date and that HR policies, procedures and record- keeping are operating effectively across the organisation.

· Support the CEO in developing a strong organisational structure with healthy internal communications systems to assist them to implement a Performance Management and Development System that is linked to the achievement of organisational key performance indicators.

· Identify and offer programmes to meet learning and development needs of staff.

· Act as a central co-ordinator of Glencree's administrative/support requirements with relevant line managers to co-ordinate the delivery of these by administrative staff.

Salary:

€55,000 pro rata for 3 days / 24 hrs per week

Location:
Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation in Co. Wicklow, Ireland (25kms from Dublin City Centre)

Terms:

18 months fixed term contract (with the possibility of extension, depending on funding The role is currently anticipated to require 3 days/24 hours per week: however, to enable greater access to applicants, Glencree will consider part-time applications of up to 4 days/28 hrs per week, flexible / hybrid working (hours can be split over different days and mixture of office-based and working from home will be permitted).

Experience and skills sought:

The following are indicative experience and skills sought in looking for the best person to work as part of the Senior Management Team. The successful applicant will be highly organised and efficient and have the personal and relational skills to liaise effectively with the Staff, Board, strategic partners, service providers and stakeholders.

·
Project Management:
Experience in designing and delivering high-level administrative projects; working to tight deadlines, with limited resources and with a variety of stakeholders. Experience in the charity / not-for-profit sector is desirable but not essential.

·
Technical Skills:
Strong analytical faculties and attention to detail are a prerequisite in all aspects of the role, but especially in compliance and procurement processes.

·
Interpersonal Skills:
Exceptional interpersonal skills and discretion in dealing with sensitive elements of our work (e.g. human resources). Having the ability to treat all staff, board, volunteers and stakeholders with dignity and respect.

·
Team Player:
Having a strong track record in working well with others and being a highly effective team member.

·
Organisation:
Demonstrable track record in being highly organised and efficient.

·
Confidentiality:
Ability to keep all relevant information confidential is absolutely critical.

·
Flexibility:
Willingness to work outside normal working hours on occasion. (Glencree operates a time in lieu policy to facilitate the need for flexible working).

·
Report writing
: Being able to write well is crucial.

·
Budget and financial management
experience is highly desirable.

·
Communications:
Experience in successfully coordinating and contributing to internal and external communications (e.g. reporting, stakeholder correspondence, etc.)

The successful candidate will need to be eligible to work in the Republic of Ireland; have a full, clean drivers licence and access to own transport.
