Your new company An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join the Finance Office as a Finance Assistant. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive financial and administrative support across a range of areas, ensuring the timely and accurate processing of financial transactions and assisting in maintaining effective financial controls and reporting. Your new role Assist in the day-to-day operation of the Finance Office, including reconciliations and general ledger processing. Support the preparation of monthly management accounts and year-end financial statements. Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and reconciliations (bank, general ledger and payroll). Assist with internal and external audit requirements by preparing schedules and supporting documentation. Support payroll and pension-related reconciliations as required. Help ensure compliance with all statutory, tax, and audit requirements (including VAT and payroll deductions). Assist with financial reporting, budget monitoring, and forecasting as directed by the Financial Accountant or Finance Manager. Provide administrative and financial support to other departments, ensuring a high standard of customer service. Contribute to process improvement initiatives and the development of more efficient financial systems and controls. Any other duties appropriate to the grade and responsibilities of the role. What you'll need to succeed A relevant qualification in Accounting, Finance, or Business (minimum Level 6 NFQ or equivalent). A minimum of 2 years' experience in a finance or accounting role. Strong numerical skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Proficiency in financial management systems and Microsoft Excel. Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines. Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work as part of a team. A proactive and flexible approach to work, with a commitment to continuous improvement. Desirable Criteria Experience working in a large or complex organisation, preferably in the public or higher education sector. Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Agresso, SAP, Oracle).
