The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board (IHRB) is the Regulatory Body for Irish horseracing, responsible for assuring public trust in horseracing and safeguarding its reputation through robust and transparent regulatory practices, implemented with uncompromising integrity by a focused and professional team. A new opportunity has arisen for a part-time seasonal Veterinary Officer (Northern based) who will lead the team of Point to Point Veterinary Officials working at each Point-to-Point meeting liaising closely with the Acting Stewards, IHRB Representative and wider team of Point-to-Point Raceday Officials.Primary Responsibilities will Include:Reporting to the Chief Veterinary Officer/Head of Anti-Doping (CVO), the successful candidate's duties will include,Leading the IHRB Veterinary Team at Point to Point meetings.Identification of horses.Taking post-race regulatory samples from horses.Advising the Acting Stewards on veterinary matters arising at the Point-to-Point meeting.Supporting Hunt veterinary surgeons in clinical care at the Point-to-Point, as needed.Any other regulatory veterinary duties assigned by the IHRB which may include working on days. other than at the Point-to-Point meeting, with appropriate notice and training.Key Requirements:Qualified veterinary surgeon with at least 5 years' relevant equine veterinary experience.Valid professional membership of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.Experience and knowledge of horseracing.Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.Able to work under pressure with common sense, discretion and diplomacy.Expect to work weekends (October - May) with a degree of flexibility to meet the demands of the Point-to-Point fixture list.How to Apply:To apply, please complete the application process and include the following:CV - 2 Page maxCover letter (maximum 1 page), addressing your suitability and alignment with the IHRB's values and mission.Contact details for two professional referees (references to be contacted only after offer).Application Deadline: Close of Business 19 December 2025Interview Process: Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview.
