With over 7 years in operation and more than 200 live-in carers, the company provides a trusted nationwide service. Carers live in the client’s home, offering reassurance at night and support during the day with household tasks, companionship, and personal care as needed. ALHomecare carefully selects carers to ensure they are caring, dependable, and conscientious, and all carers are reference-checked and Garda vetted. Ongoing training and support are provided to help carers deliver safe, high-quality care in a home setting.
Role Description
This is a full-time (5‑6 days per week), live-in, on-site role based across Ireland, providing dedicated support to an older person in their own home. The Live-in Senior Carer will assist with personal care tasks such as meal preparation, companionship, some assistance as required such as washing, dressing, toileting, and mobility support in a respectful and dignified manner. Daily responsibilities include meal preparation, light housework (cleaning, laundry, tidying), and ensuring a safe, comfortable living environment. The role involves offering companionship, conversation, and emotional support, as well as accompanying the client to appointments or outings where required. The carer will observe and report any changes in the client’s health or behaviour, follow agreed care plans and collaborate with family members and healthcare professionals as needed.
Accommodation and all meals are provided.
Qualifications
Previous experience in elderly care, live-in care, or related homecare roles, with a genuine interest in supporting older adults.
Competence in personal care tasks (e.g., bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility assistance) and promoting dignity, privacy, and independence.
Basic household management skills, including preparing nutritious meals, maintaining a clean and safe home, and managing daily routines.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and companionship skills, with patience, empathy, and the ability to build trusting relationships.
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and respond calmly to changing care needs or emergencies.
Willingness to live in the client’s home on a full-time basis and adapt to the household’s schedule and preferences.
Garda vetting and positive employment references; eligibility to work in Ireland is required.
Relevant care-related training or certifications (e.g., healthcare assistant, first aid, manual handling, dementia awareness) are an advantage.
Good level of spoken and written English.
