We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Estimator to lead our project in Galway.
Job Description
The successful candidate will have 10+ years of experience in the construction industry, preferably in civil engineering. Key responsibilities include:
Project Management
• Lead project estimate preparation and submission, coordinating with internal teams, consultants, and subcontractors.
• Manage all aspects of project submissions, including design coordination where required.
• Supervise and mentor Assistant Estimators, ensuring high-quality outputs.
• Provide guidance and support to colleagues across the department and the wider business.
Estimation
• Obtain and analyse quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Estimate costs for direct staff, labour, plant, and materials.
• Prepare project programmes with input from delivery managers.
• Identify, assess, and price key risks and opportunities within project submissions.
• Ensure project prices are reviewed and approved in line with company procedures.
• Contribute technical and project-specific input to quality submission documents.
Commercial & Technical Knowledge
• Maintain strong knowledge of standard Forms of Contract used across the industry, and assess implications of amendments.
• Keep up to date with statutory requirements affecting project execution.
• Ensure projects account for safe work practices and compliance with HSQE standards.
• Participate in post-project reviews and assist in the smooth handover of successful bids.
Requirements
• Degree in a construction-related discipline or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong knowledge of both Irish and UK construction markets is highly desirable.
• Solid understanding of commercial and contractual aspects of construction projects.
• Ability to work under pressure, prioritise tasks, and meet strict deadlines.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and team collaboration skills.
• Full, clean driving licence.
• Must be authorised to work in Ireland (valid Work Permit or Stamp 4 visa required).
