Print Media Technician – Apprenticeship Programme
About the Programme
This programme is a collaboration between the Irish Printing Federation and the Design Print & Packaging Skillnet to provide a pathway for new entrants to develop the human talent needed to drive the sector forward. Training will commence in Autumn 2025. It is co‑funded by the Government of Ireland, the European Union and network companies. The course runs for two years and culminates in Level 5 QQI accreditation.
Course Structure
* Run over 2 years
* Delivered through online tutor‑led classes
* Includes practical engagement with industry experts and company visits
* Suitable for participants from all print sectors (Litho, Digital, Finishing, Large Format, Packaging, Labels, Services)
* Assessment by workbooks, written and verbal Q&A sessions
Modules Covered
* Understanding workplace practices in the print environment
* Understanding pre‑press, print & digital artwork
* Managing print & digital printing machines
* Managing print & digital finishing machines
* Improving the effectiveness of the print company
* Health and safety in the print workplace
* Good manufacturing practice
* Masterclasses providing real‑life experience and insights
Eligibility & Application
• School leavers who have just completed the Leaving Certificate, or recent graduates.
• Interested in working while learning a career in print.
