Instructor (Extended Day Life Skills Programme)- Children Service Team Specified Purpose (Maternity Leave Cover) Saint John of God Community Services Dublin South East is looking for applications for the role of an Instructor as part of the Children Services Team. General Role Outline The role involves supporting children with an intellectual Extended Day Life Skills Programme is an after-school programme delivered by St John of God Intellectual Disability Services to students in Vocational Development in St Augustine's School. Our Vision is that our students leave St Augustine's School with important skills that they then carry with them into their new stage of life. The programme runs during the week promoting skills in the following areas. Travel Training Money Management Safety Skills - Internet, Fire Safety Personal Grooming/Care Relationships and Friendships Advocacy Light Meal Preparation Community Outings Basic Appliance Usage Essential Criteria A recognised and relevant qualification (QQI Level 6) or above, or equivalent is required e.g. Social Care/ Training/Education/Teaching etc. Experience of working with children who have an intellectual disability (additional support needs). The ability to support and facilitate young people to interact and positively engage. An awareness of Positive Behaviour Supports desirable. Excellent communication, interpersonal, innovative, resourceful, flexible and have administrative and co-ordination skills. The ability to work both in a busy team environment and independently. Knowledge of relevant national legislation, policy and standards e.g. HIQA and TUSLA. A flexible approach to work in different environments and locations within Children's Services.
