Job Description
Atlantic Flight Training Academy (AFTA) are currently recruiting for an experienced EASA Part 66 B1.2 licensed aircraft engineer to support our aircraft maintenance department based at Cork Airport, Ireland. AFTA operates a large fleet of Cessna 172, Diamond DA40, Diamond DA42, Vulcanair P68 & Slingsby aircraft, training domestic and international cadets for some of the world’s largest airlines and using the Vulcanair P68 aircraft to support our aerial survey division. The successful candidate will be part of the team that maintains this fleet to carry out routine 100 hr, 200 hr checks, scheduled and non‑scheduled maintenance, annual checks and defect rectification. The licensed engineer will also oversee and certify maintenance work conducted by aircraft mechanics.
Responsibilities
Perform and certify maintenance, repair, and inspection tasks on piston‑engine aircraft in accordance with Part‑CAO requirements.
Monitor mechanics and apprentice colleagues and certify their work/tasks as required.
Complete administrative duties, workpacks, reports and paperwork associated with Part‑CAO requirements.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently and effectively.
Maintain workflow by liaising with the Chief Engineer and Flight Ops as required.
Provide support to the Chief Engineer to lead the full maintenance team by example.
Deputise for the Chief Engineer as required.
Ensure all work is carried out to the highest safety and regulatory standards.
Qualifications
Unrestricted EASA Part‑66 Category B1.2 licence.
Light aircraft maintenance experience, ideally with Diamond DA40 / DA42 and/or Cessna 172.
Ability to hold airport restricted zone access.
Understanding of EASA and IAA Part ML and Part CAO regulations.
Computer literate, with working knowledge of Microsoft software programmes.
Fluent English speaker, both spoken and written.
Highly organised and able to prioritise work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Strong attention to detail in multi-tasking situations and ability to deliver results to tight timelines.
Responsible, proactive and flexible approach.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to forge positive working relationships.
Ad hoc travel within the EU and UK required.
Flexibility to complete tasks outside of normal working hours to ensure programme deadlines are met. (Aviation is a 365/7 day a week industry and our engineering department works after normal shift hours and on weekend days when required.)
Employment Details
Employment Type: Full‑time permanent employee, 40 hours per week, rostered over the 7 days of the week.
Employer: Atlantic Flight Training Limited.
Base location: Operations Centre, Ballygarvan Upper, Kinsale Road, Co. Cork, T12 CX7H, Ireland.
Starting Salary: €55,000 per annum.
