We are currently seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Operative to join our team and support the fabrication and installation of ductwork and related metal components for our mechanical projects. This is a full-time, permanent role based primarily out of Ballycoolin, Dublin 11, with site work as required.
Role Overview
The Sheet Metal Operative will be responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and installation of ductwork and metal components used in HVAC and mechanical systems. The successful candidate will work both in our fabrication workshop and on site, ensuring all work is completed safely, accurately, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Fabrication & Assembly
* Fabricate and assemble sheet metal ductwork, fittings, and components according to project drawings and specifications.
* Operate fabrication equipment such as plasma cutters, folders, shears, and rollers.
* Measure, cut, shape, and finish metal materials with precision.
* Ensure all fabricated items meet quality standards and dimensional accuracy.
Installation
* Install ductwork and ventilation components on site in line with project requirements.
* Support the mechanical installation team with on-site assembly and fitting.
* Ensure correct alignment, sealing, and suspension of ductwork systems.
* Conduct minor adjustments or on-site modifications when required.
Health, Safety & Compliance
* Adhere to all health and safety procedures, including safe operation of workshop tools and equipment.
* Follow method statements and risk assessments for both workshop and on-site activities.
* Maintain a clean and safe working environment in the fabrication area.
Quality Control & Documentation
* Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
* Report defects, design clashes, or material shortages to the Workshop Manager or Site Manager.
* Complete required workshop or site documentation, including fabrication logs, delivery sheets, or installation records.
Teamwork & Communication
* Work collaboratively with fabrication, installation, and site teams.
* Communicate effectively regarding project timelines, material requirements, and technical queries.
* Support junior operatives or apprentices when required.
Requirements
* Minimum 2–3 years' experience in sheet metal fabrication or ductwork installation (post-training).
* Strong understanding of sheet metal processes, ductwork systems, and HVAC components.
* Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and fabrication details.
* Safe Pass and Manual Handling Certification (required).
* Experience using fabrication machines, hand tools, and power tools.
* Full, clean Category B driving licence (advantageous).
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
