Job Title: Plant Manager
About the Role
Our client, a private and fast-growing company in the manufacturing sector, is seeking a highly experienced Plant Manager to lead operations at their new state-of-the-art production facility in the South East. This is a pivotal senior management role, offering the opportunity to be the first Plant Manager at one of Ireland’s most modern manufacturing sites.
The Plant Manager will oversee all aspects of plant operations including safety, production, maintenance, logistics, quality and people leadership. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for delivering on operational efficiency, driving continuous improvement, managing costs, and ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental requirements.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage all plant operations with a focus on safety, efficiency, and profitability.
* Build, lead and develop a strong leadership team and wider workforce.
* Manage day-to-day production, maintenance, quality, logistics and process optimisation.
* Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards across the facility.
* Control plant budgets and P&L, managing costs while maintaining operational excellence.
* Oversee recruitment, training, and mentoring of plant staff at all levels.
* Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives for products, processes and systems.
* Manage relationships with key customers, suppliers and subcontractors.
* Prepare and present plant budgets, forecasts and performance reports to senior management.
* Lead compliance with environmental permits and statutory reporting requirements.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with wider company strategy.
Requirements
* Strong background in senior operations or plant management within a manufacturing environment.
* Proven experience with budget management and full P&L responsibility.
* Excellent leadership and people management skills, with experience managing large teams.
* Strong knowledge of health, safety and environmental standards in manufacturing.
* Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations, or a related technical field is preferred but not essential.
* Experience within the gypsum or building materials industry is an advantage but not required.
* Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
