Overview
Due to growth, a leading Dublin based educational publishing company is looking to recruit an experienced Commissioning Editor to work within their growing Primary editorial team. Reporting to the Publisher, the Commissioning Editor will be responsible for identifying and working closely with new authors and briefing them on editorial processes and procedures, as well as manage the company’s commissioning expectations.
Responsibilities
* Attend relevant industry meetings throughout Ireland and actively engage with and build relationships with relevant industry bodies, including subject associations, educational conferences and other relevant events.
* Work closely with the author and the Commissioning, Editorial and Sales teams to ensure the author has all the relevant information for any given project and provide advice and assistance from commissioning through to final manuscript submission.
* Collaborate with internal teams to manage commissioning processes and expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
* Educated to degree level or equivalent; proven commissioning experience from an educational publishing background, ideally Primary, although candidates with a Post Primary publishing background will be considered.
* Strong editorial background with experience of print and digital content.
* Excellent organisation, communication, and interpersonal skills; commercial awareness with a strong sense of achievement.
* The role may suit an Assistant Commissioning Editor with relevant experience looking to take the next step.
Working Arrangements
Hybrid working model with a mix of attending the office once or twice a week and homeworking. This role will be based in Dublin and offers hybrid working (1-2 days a week in the office).
