Early Childhood Educator Opportunity
This role involves working collaboratively with a classroom teacher to design and implement learning programs that promote the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development of children. The Supply Designated Early Childhood Educator will be responsible for providing supervision and age-appropriate learning programs for students on an as-needed basis.
Responsibilities
* Partner with the classroom teacher to develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
* Lead activities such as storytelling, teaching songs, taking children to local points of interest, and providing opportunities for creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity.
* Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children.
* Assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with the classroom teacher.
* Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral concerns and prepare reports as required.
* Guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
Qualifications
* A minimum of a two-year college diploma in Early Childhood Education or a related field is required.
* Registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators (OCECE) is necessary.
* A minimum of two years of experience working in a school, early learning center, educational setting, or registered childcare is required.
* Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCVI) training is an asset.
* Knowledge of the Ministry of Education full-day early learning program is beneficial.
* Demonstrated experience with age-appropriate programs is essential.
* Knowledge of early literacy and numerical skills acquisition is valuable.
* Experience with classroom management is crucial.
* Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
* Patience, empathy, and the ability to work closely with students with complex needs are essential.
* The ability to maintain strict confidentiality and discretion is required.
* Regular attendance at work is necessary.
