We are pleased to invite applications for the position of Seasonal Lab Technician in Castlefarm, Mitchelstown, within the Dairy Food Ingredients Division.
Reporting to the Lab Manager, the Laboratory Technician will ensure the timely completion of testing samples, providing accurate results to support compliance with food safety, legal, and customer standards. The role involves shift work, including nights and weekends, to support our 24/7 laboratory operations.
Core responsibilities include:
1. Conduct chemical and microbiological analyses according to relevant plans for in-process samples.
2. Sample products from various points across the site.
3. Participate in and potentially chair weekly workgroup meetings.
4. Engage in continuous quality improvement and problem-solving activities.
5. Calibrate laboratory and production equipment, and assist with the setup, commissioning, and operation of new equipment and techniques.
6. Create and deliver training to laboratory and production staff.
7. Audit laboratory and production systems.
8. Provide excellent service to internal customers.
9. Utilize all relevant software systems.
10. Manage stock and consumables ordering.
11. Record results using IT systems and Dairygold software.
12. Sign off on paperwork adhering to lab standards.
13. Participate in continuous improvement activities such as 5S, audits, and root cause analysis.
14. Maintain quality control charts to verify testing and instrumentation accuracy.
15. Follow all health and safety requirements.
16. Assist with transferring testing activities to other sites as needed.
Candidate requirements:
1. Recognized Science degree.
2. At least 1 year of experience in a food, drinks, pharmaceutical, or environmental laboratory.
3. Experience in chemical and microbiological analysis.
4. Proficient in MS Office applications.
5. Team-oriented with a positive, resilient attitude.
6. Understanding of customer service principles.
