Role Overview
DMI is seeking a Digital Manufacturing Data Engineer to help identify, design, and implement technology-driven solutions to real manufacturing challenges.
This role sits at the intersection of manufacturing operations, data, and emerging technology. The successful candidate will bring hands-on experience from a manufacturing environment and a strong interest in how digital technologies can improve manufacturing performance.
Working across both internal innovation initiatives and client projects, the role will help translate manufacturing challenges into practical digital use cases, evaluate emerging technologies, and support the development of solutions that advance the future of manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Manufacturing Use Case Development

Identify and define digital manufacturing use cases that address real operational challenges.
Translate shop-floor problems into technology-enabled solutions.
Develop proof-of-concepts and demonstration use cases to showcase digital manufacturing capabilities.
Support the development of business cases for manufacturing technology adoption.

Technology Discovery & Benchmarking

Research and evaluate emerging manufacturing technologies and digital solutions.
Benchmark vendors and platforms that can solve manufacturing challenges.
Support innovation initiatives exploring technologies such as:
Agentic analytics
AI-driven manufacturing solutions

Solution Integration

Support the integration of new technologies within existing manufacturing environments.
Work with teams to connect systems across the manufacturing technology stack (e.g. MES, ERP, data platforms).
Help define technical and functional requirements for new manufacturing solutions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with manufacturing, quality, engineering, IT, and analytics teams.
Collaborate with both internal teams and client stakeholders.
Participate in workshops and problem-solving sessions to identify improvement opportunities.

Client & Industry Engagement

Support client engagements focused on digital manufacturing transformation.
Help demonstrate how modern technologies can improve manufacturing operations.
Contribute to thought leadership and innovation initiatives within the organization.

Key Skills and Competencies
Required Experience

2+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
Experience working with or alongside manufacturing systems and manufacturing data
Strong understanding of digital transformation, Industry 4.0, or AI/data-driven technologies.
Strong understanding of core manufacturing concepts
Familiarity with manufacturing technology environments such as:
MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems)
ERP systems supporting manufacturing
Manufacturing analytics platforms
Digital manufacturing initiatives

Experience within Life Sciences, Pharma, or MedTech manufacturing is strongly preferred.
Education

Information Systems
Business Information Systems
Computer Science
Manufacturing Technology
or a related field

Equivalent experience in manufacturing technology environments will also be considered.
Desirable Experience (Nice to Have)

Exposure to Quality Management Systems (QMS)
Understanding of system validation and change control in regulated manufacturing
Experience with digital transformation or innovation initiatives
Exposure to technology vendor evaluation or benchmarking
Strong problem-solving mindset
Ability to translate manufacturing problems into technology solutions
Curiosity about emerging technologies and digital innovation
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Comfortable working across technical and operational teams
Self-starter with a proactive, get-things-done attitude
Ability to work in fast-moving innovation environments
