About the Role
We are looking for a Senior PHP Developer with strong experience in WordPress and content‑driven platforms to join a growing engineering team.
This role goes beyond traditional WordPress development – you’ll be designing and building well‑structured, scalable backend solutions, developing custom plugins, and working on systems that integrate with external services and APIs.
You’ll play a key role in shaping architecture, improving performance, and ensuring maintainable, high‑quality code across multiple content platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement custom WordPress solutions, including complex plugins and integrations
Structure and develop moderately complex domains (multiple entities, business logic, persistence layers, API integrations)
Build clean, maintainable, and extensible codebases, following modern PHP practices
Architect and maintain plugin systems and extension points for scalability and flexibility
Optimize application and page performance, identifying bottlenecks across frontend and backend
Implement event‑driven behaviors (e.g., hooks, listeners) in a clean and testable way
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver reliable and scalable features
Maintain high standards of code quality, testing, and documentation
Required Skills & Experience
Strong experience with PHP (8.0+) and modern language features
Solid experience with WordPress development, including:
Custom plugin development
Hooks, filters, and WordPress architecture
Experience working with content‑heavy or high‑traffic websites
Ability to design and structure scalable backend systems and domain models
Experience integrating external APIs and third‑party services
Strong understanding of object‑oriented programming and design patterns
Experience with code quality tools and standards (e.g., linters, static analysis, PSR standards)
Familiarity with development environments and workflows (Docker, local setups, etc.)
Experience with performance optimization and debugging
Nice to Have
Experience with Symfony (6.x / 7.x) or other modern PHP frameworks
Familiarity with annotations / metadata‑driven design
Experience designing extensible systems or plugin architectures
Understanding of frontend fundamentals (CSS behavior, responsive layouts, component styling)
Experience working with large‑scale or distributed systems
What We’re Looking For
Strong engineering mindset, not just CMS experience
Ability to explain technical decisions and trade‑offs clearly
Attention to code structure, readability, and long‑term maintainability
Comfort working with ambiguous requirements and evolving systems
Proactive approach to problem‑solving and performance improvements
