Purpose:
Shay Murtagh Precast Ltd is a leading manufacturer of concrete products in the UK and Ireland. We specialise in pre‑stressed and precast concrete products, including concrete storage tanks, bridge beams, culverts, retaining walls, A‑frame buildings, tunnel segments and a range of domestic concrete products. Furthermore, bespoke concrete products can be designed and manufactured to any requirement by our in‑house design and engineering departments.
Due to our continuing growth and expansion, Shay Murtagh Precast are seeking a Civil Manufacturing Engineer to join our production team in our manufacturing facility in Raharney, Co. Westmeath. The individual we are seeking should have a civil engineering background, with a minimum of 2 – 3 years of experience, ideally with the intention of achieving chartered status in the near future, setting out and site experience.

Scope:
This role is a hands‑on production engineering position within our manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will take ownership of one of our production buildings, managing daily operations, coordinating labour, and ensuring quality and output targets are achieved. This role is ideally suited to an engineer who enjoys working in a fast‑paced, practical environment and is keen to develop strong leadership and operational management skills.
Work Activities & Responsibilities
Proven ability in setting out projects including complicated and challenging precast structures
Work to strict deadlines, with excellent problem‑solving skills, if issues or difficulties occur within design and/or production process
Self‑motivated and meticulous, with the ability to prioritise workload effectively
Possess excellent and proven organisation, planning and time‑management skills, a flexible approach and the ability to work on own initiative
Experience with reinforced concrete structures or precast concrete structures along with concrete panels, columns, beams and modular products, would be advantageous
Schedule material and equipment requirements for manufacture
Engage with a team and management to deliver a high‑quality product on time and on budget
Effectively communicate with clients, colleagues and build effective working relationships while taking ownership and responsibility for designated projects
Experience in QA/QC and inspection of the pre‑casting operations in the production facility, post‑tension operations and erection of precast structures would be desirable
Working knowledge of AutoCad, BIM and Eurocodes along with good IT skills including Microsoft packages
Willingness to develop commercial acumen, in addition to technical skills as part of your commitment to ongoing self‑improvement as part of your CPD

Demonstrated mathematical and technical skills
Ability to think methodically, plan and manage projects
Experience in manufacturing or production environment with strong people management / supervisory experience
Ability to work in a fast‑paced operational environment
Maintain an overview of entire projects while continuing to attend to detailed technicalities
Excellent verbal and written communication & interpersonal skills
Negotiating, supervisory and leadership skills combined with the ability to delegate
Ability to work under pressure, balance priorities and meet strict deadlines, essential and highly motivated to take on new challenges
Team player with exceptional interpersonal skills
Experience & Qualifications
Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent)
2–3 years’ experience, ideally within construction, manufacturing or a related environment
Experience working with concrete or precast products is advantageous
Strong understanding of engineering drawings and specifications
Full, clean driving licence
