Overview

NHS GG&C Older People's Inpatient Psychology (OPIP) Team are pleased to advertise Principal Clinical/Counselling Psychologist roles across Older People's Mental Health (OPMH) Wards.
Shift Pattern - Can be worked across Monday - Friday.
Role purpose and team context
The post holders will provide highly specialist psychological assessment, formulation and therapy, at the same time as offering advice and consultation on clients' psychological care to non-psychology colleagues and to other, non-professional carers; working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures.
The successful candidate will be a member of a team of psychologists, led by a Consultant Clinical Psychologist who are responsible for scoping current provision/need in in-patient services; working with stakeholders to develop and implement a matched and stepped care model of Psychological Interventions and Therapies provision (PI/PTs); providing staff training, supervision and implementation support; evaluating the impact of service improvements; and delivering a specialist psychological therapy service for clients with the most complex presentations.
Responsibilities
Provide highly specialist psychological assessment, formulation and therapy for older people in inpatient settings.
Offer advice and consultation on clients' psychological care to non-psychology colleagues and non-professional carers.
Act autonomously within professional guidelines and the team's policies and procedures.
Work as part of a psychology team led by a Consultant Clinical Psychologist; contribute to scoping current provision/need in in-patient services.
Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement a matched and stepped care model of Psychological Interventions and Therapies provision (PI/PTs).
Provide staff training, supervision and implementation support; evaluate the impact of service improvements.
Deliver a specialist psychological therapy service for clients with the most complex presentations.
Qualifications and experience
A Clinical/Counselling Psychologist with knowledge, skills and experience gained from working with a variety of client groups, across the whole life course, presenting with the full range of clinical severity in a range of care settings; preferably with experience of working in specialist older people's mental health services.
Experience of undertaking clinical leadership roles within multi-disciplinary or multi-agency contexts; and providing consultation and supervision to colleagues on psychological aspects of care.
Service context and team
The OPIP Team is hosted within the GG&C Older People's Psychology Service (OPPS), which provides a highly specialist service to older people within the NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde area.
The mental health arm of the service is delivered through participation in Community Mental Health Teams for Older People around the health board area.
The department also includes the GG&C Young Onset Dementia service; a Care Home Liaison Psychology Service; and the OPTIMAL Team, tasked with widening access to evidence-based PI/PTs across GG&C.
The post holder will be a member of this psychology department and will deliver a Clinical/Counselling Psychology service to older people following referral by colleagues working in OPMH wards.
Professional and operational management is via the Older People's Psychology Service and the Psychology Directorate.
The post reports to the Consultant Clinical Psychologist for the Older People's Inpatient Psychology Team.
The postholder may be required to provide Clinical/Counselling Psychology input across the Older People's Inpatient Psychology team at different bases as required.

Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata.
