Overview
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (Neurology) will be part of the multidisciplinary team involved in the delivery and development of Neurology services at Wexford General Hospital and in collaboration with Integrated Care colleagues.
Role Core Concepts
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (Neurology) will be responsible for the delivery of care in line with the five core concepts of the role set out in the Framework the Establishment of Clinical Nurse Specialist Posts, 4th edition, National Council for the Professional Development of Nursing and Midwifery (NCNM) 2008.
Patient Focus
Clinical Nurse Specialist (Neurology) will focus initially on the following patient groups:
Stroke
Epilepsy
Headache
Dementia
Parkinson’s Disease
Multiple Sclerosis
Motor neuron Disease
Periperal Neuropathy
Myasthenia Gravis
Muscular Dystrophy
Responsibilities
The Clinical Nurse Specialist will manage and coordinate patient care both as an in-patient and as an out-patient and will report to the relevant Director of Nursing and the relevant Assistant Director of Nursing.
