Interim Healthcare Commercial Lead (6-12mth Contract)
Key Requirements of the Post
The Interim Commercial Lead is responsible for driving short-term commercial performance and delivery over a defined 6-12 month period.
The role focuses on accelerating referrals, improving conversion, strengthening stakeholder engagement, and embedding consistent commercial processes across the organisation.
The postholder will work closely with the CEO, Director of Operations, and Finance Director to translate existing commercial priorities into clear, measurable actions and outcomes.
This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role with accountability for execution rather than long-term strategy development.
Commercial Performance Delivery
Deliver against agreed commercial priorities over the 6-12 month period, including referral growth, conversion improvement, and activity levels.
Establish clear, measurable KPIs and track performance against agreed targets.
Identify performance gaps and implement corrective actions to improve outcomes.
Provide regular updates to the CEO and SLT on progress, risks, and opportunities.
Marketing & Patient Growth Execution
Drive execution of marketing and campaign activity to support short-term patient growth.
Ensure effective use of CRM systems, marketing channels, and referral pathways to maximise conversion.
Work with internal teams to optimise existing marketing activity and improve return on investment.
Stakeholder Engagement
Strengthen relationships with referrers, partners, and key stakeholders to support activity growth.
Identify immediate opportunities to improve referral pathways and engagement.
Support consistency in stakeholder communication and follow-up.
Commercial Support to Operations (Non-Line Management)
Work closely with the Director of Operations to ensure commercial initiatives are aligned with operational capacity and delivery.
Provide commercial insight and direction to General Managers to support performance (no direct reporting responsibility).
Support implementation of commercial initiatives at hospital level.
Data, Tracking & Reporting
Implement or optimise simple, clear tracking of commercial KPIs (e.g., referrals, conversion, utilisation).
Ensure accurate and consistent reporting across all sites.
Translate data into practical insights and actions for operational teams.
Financial & Delivery Support
Work with the Finance Director to support pricing, activity planning, and revenue tracking.
Contribute to short-term planning and forecasting discussions.
Support delivery of existing business cases and commercial initiatives.
Governance & Ways of Working
Ensure commercial activities are delivered in line with organisational policies and regulatory requirements.
Embed clear, consistent ways of working across commercial processes (e.g., reporting, tracking, accountability).
Escalate risks or issues impacting performance or delivery in a timely manner.
Qualifications
Degree in Business, Marketing, Healthcare Management, or equivalent relevant experience.
Experience
Experience in a commercial, business development, or operational performance role.
Demonstrable experience delivering measurable performance outcomes in a service-based or multi-site environment.
Experience working with data, reporting, or performance tracking tools.
Experience working in healthcare is essential.
