We are a busy, friendly GP practice providing high-quality primary care to our local community.
We are seeking an experienced and organised Medical Secretary to provide maternity cover for a 6-month period.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, supporting our doctors and nursing team, and delivering a professional and welcoming service to our patients.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide a professional first point of contact for patients, both in person and by telephone.
· Manage appointment scheduling, repeat prescription requests, and patient queries.
· Maintain accurate patient records using practice management systems e.g. Socrates
· Handle correspondence including typing referral letters, processing hospital reports, and managing incoming/outgoing mail.
· Assist in the preparation of medical reports and documentation.
· Support the clinical team with administrative tasks to ensure efficient workflow.
· Maintain confidentiality and adhere to GDPR and practice policies at all times.
Essential Skills & Experience
· Previous experience in a medical secretary or similar administrative role.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a compassionate, patient-focused approach.
· Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively.
· Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
