Payroll Specialist (Ireland & UK)
Role Overview
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for supporting the end-to-end processing of Group Payroll for Primeline across Ireland and the UK. This role manages both weekly and monthly payroll cycles for approximately 1,100 employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Process weekly and monthly payrolls across multiple entities in Euro and Sterling
Administer payroll using Sage Payroll and BrightPay systems
Execute payroll payments via online banking platforms
Ensure compliance with PAYE regulations across Ireland and the UK (dual jurisdiction)
Manage payroll queries and provide timely resolutions to employees and stakeholders
Administer benefits and deductions, including:
Benefit-in-Kind (BIK)
Pensions
Healthcare
Salary sacrifice schemes
Maintain accurate payroll records, files, and documentation in line with audit requirements
Post payroll journals to appropriate company entities and cost centresGenerate and analyse payroll reports for management as required
Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure data accuracy and alignment
Support payroll projects, system improvements, and process enhancements
Perform general payroll administration and ad hoc duties as needed
Essential Criteria
2-3+ years' experience in a payroll administrator / payroll specialist role
Proven experience processing high-volume payroll (multi-entity preferred)
Strong working knowledge of:
Sage Payroll
BrightPay
Solid understanding of PAYE, payroll compliance, and tax regulations (Ireland & UK)
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g. data analysis, reconciliations)
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Strong organisational and time management skills with ability to meet deadlines
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently as a self-starter while contributing to a team
Desirable
Experience with dual jurisdiction payroll (UK & Ireland)
Knowledge of payroll audits and reporting
Exposure to finance systems / GL integration
Continuous improvement mindset
