We currently have a vacancy for a Driver with a base out of Cherry Orchard. The van driver will deliver and collect from our stores throughout the country.This is a full time role, 37.5 hours per week.Shift Times: 8am - 4.30pm (5 days per week)The successful candidate should be available for shifts between Monday and SaturdayClosing Date: 12th September 2025Overview of RoleVision Ireland is Ireland's national charity working for the rising number of people affected by sight loss. Our Retail business contributes over 30% of the funding needed to provide essential services to the 55,000 service users around the country.The delivery driver will offer every assistance to retail shop teams to increase sales & profits for the benefit of people who are blind and vision impaired, supporting and endorsing the aims and values of the organisation.ResponsibilitiesSupport Vision Ireland Retail shops by collecting and delivering furniture. Ensure that all furniture is safely secured in vehicles and all parts are intactSupport Vision Ireland Retail shops by assisting with furniture assembly & shop displays and removing (to the dump) any rubbish or unsalable furnishingsMaintain assigned vehicle with regard to daily/weekly driver checksFully comply with Irish Driving regulations and traffic lawsComply with the health and safety working practiceEnsure that all vehicles are kept clean and tidy and cleaned out at least once a weekEnsure no VISION IRELAND Retail vehicle is damaged. Ensure the Driver's Assistant always gets out of the van and guides the driver when reversing.Ensure that no violation of the Road Traffic Act is breached when you or other drivers are using VISION IRELAND Retail vehicles.Ensure that verbal and written reports of any damages to vehicles are passed immediately to the line managerPresent a good image and 'face of VISION IRELAND RETAIL' at all times. Working with others:Be willing to work reasonable additional hours and to perform any other additional duties as and when required to meet the needs of the businessTravel to meetings and training sessions as requiredHave basic knowledge of VISION IRELAND RETAIL's structures and current activitiesEngage and support fund raising and marketing initiativesEnsure that all instructions and information received is communicated to van team members and is actioned on a regular basis using the appropriate communication tools Voluntary team members:Effectively induct, train, develop and retain van volunteers and help to maximize their potential and ensure they comply with proceduresKeep the van adequately staffed at all times, including holidays, in order to maintain levels of serviceUse appropriate communication tools to keep volunteers up to date with VISION IRELAND RETAIL's performance and developmentEnsure that volunteers comply with VISION IRELAND RETAIL's policies and procedures with specific reference to the volunteering policy and health & safety Administration:Ensure all documents are completed, (e.g. collection/delivery notes signed, vehicle checklists, mileage sheets, fuel receipts) and returned to the Shop Team dailyAssist in planning the best and most economical routes for collections and deliveries. Work with Shop Teams to ensure an effective time management programme is operatedEnsure all requests for practical help are administered confidentially and via the appropriate channelsComply with VISION IRELAND Retail van administration procedures (as detailed in the Van Drivers' and Furniture Manuals) and all other directives within agreed timescalesEnsure a satisfactory level of compliance in respect of VISION IRELAND Retail audits and health & safety audits Security, environment and health & safety:Ensure vehicles are securely parked and locked each day and that any shutters/gates are lockedEnsure that all VISION IRELAND RETAIL policies and procedures, including equal opportunities, are correctly followed at all times by all team membersMinimize the environmental impact of van activities, ensuring that environmental policies and procedures are followed at all times by all team membersComply with VISION IRELAND Retail health & safety policies and instructions and report any maintenance or other security/safety concerns to the SMCEnsure manual handling guidelines are followed at all times by all team membersCarry out all reasonable tasks and requests as assigned by manager/supervisorEssential Experience, Skills and CompetenciesProven multi-drop van driving experience, with experience in furniture delivery an advantage.Good local geographical knowledgeGood interpersonal skillsAbility to use initiativeFull, clean drivers licence is essentialPreferred Skills and ExperienceExperienced in delivery, drop off and collection of furniture and bulky goodsExperience in a charity or non profit organisationFurther Information for Candidates:All applicants must submit a current CV and cover letter outlining your motivation to apply.The successful candidate will be subject to garda vetting.Candidates must be eligible to work full-time in Ireland.Further information about Vision Ireland can be found on our website Informal enquiries to Garda Vetting required:Garda Vetting will be conducted for the recommended candidate as part of the selection process for the post in accordance with the VI Garda Vetting policy.Vision Ireland is an equal opportunities employer.Equality, Diversity and Inclusion:Vision Ireland is committed to creating an inclusive environment where diversity is celebrated, and everyone is afforded equality of opportunity.
