Job Description:
Due to continued expansion Jones Engineering require a Civil Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join the T&D and & Renewables team. Further growth is expected within the sector, and this is an opportunity for an ambitious Civil Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to grow their career with support and guidance from our senior commercial team members.
Responsibilities
As a key member of the team, the role will provide Civil Estimating and Quantity Surveying support across all phases of project delivery from tender through to final account agreement, ensuring commercial control throughout. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Tendering & Pre-Construction Involvement
* Participate in civil tendering for large-scale projects, from initial inquiry through to submission.
* Assemble and evaluate subcontractor quotations, ensuring compliance with specifications.
* Complete accurate take-offs from tender drawings.
* Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders throughout the tender process.
* Attend pre- and post-tender interviews and client meetings as required.
* Advise senior management on bid prospects and tender strategies.
Quantity Surveying
* Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, offering ongoing advice and monitoring to the Construction Team.
* Identify and report potential commercial risks in a timely manner.
* Prepare monthly progress applications, including accurate measures, site variations, dayworks, and claims.
* Manage and forecast project turnover and cash flow to ensure healthy financial performance.
* Review and manage subcontractor accounts from initial award to interim valuations and final accounts.
* Support operational procurement activities and provide contract support, working closely with the Procurement Department.
* Provide accurate and timely commercial reporting for all projects.
* Identify, analyse, and report on commercial trends across projects and the business.
* Review incoming correspondence from Employers, Design Teams, and Subcontractors to identify contractually critical items and initiate appropriate responses.
* Ensure the Construction Team adheres to all contractual requirements.
Skills/ Requirements:
* Relevant third level qualification essential in Quantity Surveying/ Construction Economics and or relevant Civil Engineering discipline
* Minimum 5+ years' experience post qualification essential
* Previous Civil Estimating and Quantity Surveyor experience essential.
* Experience in High Voltage Substations, Transmission & Distribution projects or any Utility projects an advantage
* Ability to work both individually and as part of a multi-functional team
* Excellent IT Skills
* Demonstrates excellent presentation, verbal, written, and communication skills
