The Sea Fisheries Protection Authority (SFPA) is seeking to appoint a Shellfish Environmental Manager HEO to join the established Food & Fisheries Support Team.Make sure to read the full description below, and please apply immediately if you are confident you meet all the requirements.The Shellfish Environmental Manager serves as the Sanitary Survey Manager, a central role in coordinating and managing the National Shellfish Sanitary Survey Programme.This function underpins the classification of shellfish production areas and ensures compliance with EU and national food safety regulations.Essential Criteria: Candidates must meet the following essential requirements prior to the closing date of the competition: Possess a relevant third level qualification (NFQ Level 7) such as Fisheries, Marine, Environmental, Biological Science or related field Minimum of two years relevant professional experience in a science-based field, preferably within area of sanitary survey or food safety regulation at an operational and /or national level (e.g.implementing sanitary survey or shellfish official controls, developing guidance and providing workshops on sanitary surveys or design, establishment, and delivery of shellfish food safety official controls.) Stakeholder Engagement by working collaboratively with agencies, industry, and local authorities to build and maintaining constructive relationships Excellent English written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex food safety issues clearly and effectively to a range of audiences, including drafting and reviewing documents and communications Be prepared to carry out some business travel to offsite meetings and to SFPA port offices nationally Full driving license and access to personal vehicle Desirable Criteria: Legislative Knowledge through an understanding of EU and national shellfish safety regulations and ability to apply legislative requirements effectively in practice Five years relevant professional experience in a science-based field, preferably within area of sanitary survey or food safety regulation at an operational and /or national level.
