A Day in the Life The Structural Heart and Aortic Integrated operating unit offers minimally invasive approaches to restore proper structure and function of the heart and the aorta. We are focused on the transcatheter replacement or repair of the four heart valves - aortic, pulmonic, mitral, tricuspid - and the placement of stent grafts to treat aneurysms and dissections of the body's largest artery, the aorta. As a Senior R&D Engineer within the Released Product Engineering Team in the Structural Heart and Aortic operating unit, you will be tasked with supporting the cross functional technical team and leading projects in all aspects of commercial device engineering. A Day in The Life Of: Medtronic R&D seeks an experienced engineer to utilize advanced engineering principles and methodologies to solve complex technical challenges in existing commercial products. Drive the development and implementation of innovative solutions for released products to enhance performance and customer satisfaction Conduct thorough root cause analysis on product complaints and defects, ensuring timely identification and resolution of underlying issues. Effectively represent Medtronic while interacting with physicians and field teams to understand needs, address product complaints, and translate them into actionable engineering solutions. Manage and execute multiple R&D projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget constraints Ensure all product modifications and improvements comply with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements. Participate in technical innovation across the department Use data analysis and empirical testing to validate design changes and improvements Apply understanding of anatomy & physiology with engineering knowledge in materials and processes to produce working designs and solutions Interface effectively and build relationships with team members, other staff and key technology and component suppliers, both locally and globally Contribute to resolution technical obstacles with existing designs and support portfolio sustaining activities Contribute to generation of intellectual property Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and professional development.
