Senior Engineer
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Engineer to contribute to an upcoming project. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all construction activities are carried out to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Review designs in detail for buildability and generate schedules of issues for each stage of construction. Maintain these lists and update them during construction, reviewing regularly with the Project Manager on site.
2. Ensure that projects have the required engineering and technical resources to fulfill all engineering duties. Provide necessary leadership to any engineering staff reporting directly to you. Understand mentoring and training requirements.
3. Liaise with design teams to ensure the construction team has all the required information to construct the Works. Generate and maintain RFI (Request for Information) Schedules in line with programme requirements. Hold responsible people accountable for providing required design information and responding.
4. Be fully aware of programmes (design, procurement, lead-in, and construction).
5. Challenge designs to provide commercial benefits where possible.
6. Take responsibility for dimensional control from ensuring projects have the required primary control information to the site engineering team providing any required setting out for the Works. Ensure robust checking systems are in place to continually monitor and provide required assurance on setting out.
7. In conjunction with site management, ensure all contractors adopt safe systems of work. Review all method statements prior to the works commencing. Take specific care in high-risk works involved.
8. Ensure all site engineers request and receive timely information so that there is no impact to the programme.
9. Generate NCR (nonconformance report) registers and maintain them during construction. Hold responsible persons and contractors accountable and provide detailed weekly reports to the project management team and commercial team on progress/non-compliance.
10. Prior to completion agree snagging processes with the project manager. Take responsibility for snagging programmes as tasked by the PM. Hold subcontractors accountable, close out all snags by time so as not to affect handover.
11. Provide schedules of lessons learnt to the Contracts/Project Manager at the end of the project and at relevant times during its execution. Build these schedules as the works proceed.
12. Provide assistance to close out all subcontractor accounts with which you have involvement.
13. Advise engineers on setting out methods and techniques with the responsibility to develop them to their maximum potential.
