Job Title: Production Supervisor
Reports To: Production Manager
Location: Co. Kildare
Job Purpose
The Production Supervisor is responsible for planning, leading, and overseeing all production and maintenance activities within their area. The role focuses on optimising resources to ensure finished goods are delivered on time, in full, and to the required quality standards, in line with production schedules and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Leading and motivating the production team to consistently achieve targets, while managing overtime in coordination with the Plant Manager when necessary
* Attending daily production meetings and resolving any issues raised
* Managing team attendance, timekeeping, overtime, and annual leave schedules
* Delegating tasks and organising workflows to meet targets for output, efficiency, yield, and waste reduction
* Ensuring all production meets required quality and delivery standards
* Promoting effective communication within the department and across teams
* Conducting performance reviews and probationary appraisals
* Handling employee relations issues, including grievances and disciplinary matters, in collaboration with the Plant Manager and HR
* Escalating potential operational issues when necessary
* Reviewing production and performance data (e.g. downtime, waste, non-conformances) to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement
* Ensuring first-off and final product checks are completed and recorded
* Managing control of production tools, probes, and parts in line with contamination prevention procedures
* Promoting and supporting energy efficiency and waste management practices
* Maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic work environment in line with health, safety, and quality standards
* Ensuring all staff operate equipment as trained and are signed off accordingly
* Enforcing compliance with hygiene, safety, and CCP protocols at all times
* Contributing to process improvements, SOP development, and identifying best practices
* Ensuring all SOPs are reviewed annually (or as needed) and staff are trained in the latest versions
* Monitoring that products are produced and packed to specification, with a focus on first-time quality
* Minimising ingredient and product waste through correct handling and inventory control
* Liaising with the maintenance team to report and resolve equipment issues
* Communicating with other supervisors to maintain a steady flow of materials and prevent downtime
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
* Strong knowledge of production systems, quality procedures, and company software (Excel, Word, internal systems)
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Demonstrated leadership with a track record of delivering results
* Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities
* Previous experience managing teams in a production environment (desirable)
* High level of initiative, motivation, and energy
* Flexible, adaptable, and able to work collaboratively
* Fluent in written and spoken English
* Committed to maintaining high standards and continuous improvement
