The Vacancy
Jennings O'Donovan (JOD) part of RSK Group
is a skilled, multidisciplinary consulting engineering firm specialising in renewable energy, water supply, wastewater treatment, and planning and environmental services. Founded in 1950 in Co. Sligo, our team of over 100 professionals, including design engineers, planners, and environmental scientists, works with clients in Ireland and overseas. We are seeking an experienced
Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) Advisor
to join our team. This role is a vital opportunity to progress in the Renewable Energy Sector and be involved in landmark infrastructural projects across Ireland, supporting our drive toward a more sustainable and resilient environment.

Key Responsibilities:

* Project Safety & Health Management (Design)
* Perform the Project Supervisor for the Design Process (PSDP)/Principal Designer role on projects.
* Provide design safety advice and technical support to engineering design disciplines and project teams.
* Support project teams in achieving compliance with the applicable statutory requirements for occupational health and safety in design.
* Work on tenders and manage the commercial aspects of projects.
* Lead or Chair design safety-related reviews, EHS, technical, regulatory, and process safety reviews as competent.
* Determine and track essential design safety related reviews and risk assessments, ensuring they are adequately planned and sequenced in project schedules.
* Provide Temporary Works co-ordination and third-party designer management.
* Manage the compilation of Safety Files and co-ordinate with the PSCS and construction management teams.
* Maintain knowledge of current technology, regulatory, and industry standards for design safety.
* Quality and ISO Support
* Provide support to the Quality Manager in the continuous improvement, monitoring, and maintenance of the Integrated Management System (IMS).
* Support project teams in implementing Quality policies, procedures, processes, and tools specific to health and safety in design, as defined by the IMS.
* Ensure all work performed is in strict compliance with JOD's Information Management System (IMS).
* Actively participate in design safety and quality-related continuous improvement projects.
* Internal SHEQ Support and Improvement
* Provide advice and support to colleagues on general SHEQ matters.
* Conduct health and safety audits, prepare health and safety statements, draft risk assessments, and manage internal H&S in collaboration with colleagues and the safety committee.
* Lead and promote continuous improvement in all health, safety, and environmental work practices.
* Deliver design safety related training to staff.

Person Specification:

* Minimum 10 years of safety (design/construction) or projects experience.
* Recognised relevant professional qualification (Engineering, Architecture, Science, or Construction preferred).
* Demonstrated strong working knowledge and practical application of ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 standards in an engineering/construction environment.
* Excellent communication, people skills, and attention to detail.
* Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative to achieve project deadlines.
* Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
* Fluent English, Full Clean Drivers License, and ability to travel.
* Advantageous: Member of a recognised Engineering, Architectural, or Occupational H&S professional body/Chartered Status.
