Job Title: Principal R&D Engineer
About the Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing and project managing a portfolio of projects. This includes internal projects and those for external clients.
A thorough understanding of the full R&D process from concept through production to commercialization is essential in this broad-spectrum role. Experience in Design Control and working in an ISO 13485 environment is vital. Interface with external clients and work both independently and as part of a team. Adaptability in a dynamic environment with changing priorities is required.
1. Lead defined development projects including co-development projects with industry partners.
2. Ensure completion of relevant supporting Design Documentation in compliance with applicable procedures
3. Assist in the development of the required Files for Regulatory submissions
4. Develop and monitor project Gantt charts or other planning tools to allow project tracking
5. Work with and manage both internal and external resources to complete the necessary project activities
6. Incorporate relevant design expertise and experience in projects in line with PBC new product pipeline strategy
7. Drive and encourage creativity within the project teams.
8. Support management of the R&D Laboratory.
9. Actively search for best-in-class technologies among competitors to support the development of the company innovation roadmap
10. Implement structures respecting existing patents; strive for creation of value adding patents each year
11. Support activities related to the maintenance of operational budgets for applicable programs
12. Design, implement and manage validation procedures for new biomedical implant related processes.
13. Stay up-to-date with developments in the field of bone regeneration through review of current scientific literature, networking within the scientific community and participating at scientific congress.
Requirements:
- Strong Project Management skills are required, as well as experience of leading cross-functional project teams.
- In-depth knowledge of the R&D process from concept through production to commercialization
- A level 08 degree or higher in a relevant scientific/engineering discipline.
