This objective requires a modernised data architecture and a good understanding of our data domains. The team will shift its focus from tools and technology to understanding the business questions that need to be answered and the data required to answer them.
Job Purpose
The Mining Data & Analytics (D&A) team has several data products shared across multiple divisions within Sandvik, as well as division-specific data solutions and data rooms used to support the business in their analytical needs. The Data Product Delivery Manager will work closely with the business to validate and analyse requirements, agree on priorities, and ensure that the D&A team delivers and continues to develop high‑quality data products.
Strategic Responsibilities
* Create and maintain the product roadmap, expressing it in terms of objectives based on goals rather than features, aligning with Sandvik’s business strategy, priorities of the Business Value Streams, and measurable KPIs. The roadmap will evolve over the long term.
* Manage cross‑team backlogs and priorities for multiple data products according to defined business goals and costs, ensuring alignment with Portfolio Epic milestones and using MS Azure DevOps, JIRA, Sprint Boards, and DataBricks as required.
* Create user stories that are simple, clear, and include the definition of done so developers can deliver functionality that satisfies the requirement.
* Prioritise the backlog according to Portfolio Epic priorities, continuously pruning lower‑priority items and ensuring all stakeholders have access to the backlog.
* Manage the ops side of data products, identifying improvement opportunities to prevent recurring issues and working with the ServiceNow system.
Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
* Work on a number of Data Products and/or standalone solutions to define and prioritise features based on business value and customer needs.
* Employ a DevOps approach with aligned production and UAT releases.
* Present timelines and budgets to stakeholders and D&A team resource management.
* Collaborate with the development team to create user stories and acceptance criteria.
* Ensure the product meets business requirements and provide clear guidance to the team.
* Test solutions before launching to business stakeholders.
* Use DataBricks to explore data and support business questions.
* Continuously prioritise and adjust the product backlog based on stakeholder and customer feedback.
* Coach and mentor the team on Agile methods and product development best practices.
* Analyse business requirements and help prepare mappings.
* Lead data product business groups and communicate timelines and goals.
* Improve D&A processes to manage and maintain data products from start to finish.
* Perform other ad‑hoc duties as requested by management.
Education, Skills & Experience
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
* 5+ years of experience in product ownership, project management, analysis, or a similar role.
* Strong leadership and communication skills for managing a team and communicating with stakeholders.
* Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills to make informed decisions based on data and market trends.
* Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
* Experience with Scrum and Agile methodologies and project‑management tools such as JIRA, Trello, MS DevOps or Asana.
* Experience with Power BI.
* Strong negotiation skills for collaborating with cross‑functional teams and external partners.
* Ability to adapt to changing priorities and requirements while maintaining focus on key objectives.
* Proven ability to manage and prioritise multiple projects.
* Familiarity with data warehousing development and methodologies.
* Comfortable with coaching and mentoring the team on Agile methods and product development best practices.
Your Profile
The SMR Data & Analytics team is moving toward Agile methods, and the Product Manager will need to coach and mentor the team, understand data sources and integrations across multiple systems, and work closely with SAP.
