Procurement Manager (Fixed-Term Contract) Location: Cork, Ireland Contract: Fixed-term to January **** Salary: €60,000 per annum Orange Recruitment is working with a leading international manufacturing and engineering organisation to recruit an experienced Procurement Manager for their Cork-based operation.
This is a full-time, fixed-term contract role running until January ****, supporting a high-performing manufacturing facility within a global matrix environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for procurement strategy, supplier management, inventory control, and supply chain performance, working closely with senior operations leadership to ensure efficient, compliant, and resilient supply chain operations.
The Role The Procurement Manager will develop and execute a comprehensive procurement and supply chain strategy aligned with corporate policies and business objectives.
You will lead purchasing and inventory control activities, manage supplier relationships, and act as a key contributor to operational excellence across the site.
Key Responsibilities Supply Chain Strategy & Planning Develop and implement a supply chain and procurement strategy aligned with business objectives.
Analyse supply chain trends, market conditions, and demand patterns to support decision-making.
Collaborate with senior leadership to support long-term operational and growth plans.
Develop, motivate, and upskill procurement team members, supporting continuous professional development.
Supplier Relationship Management Rationalise and manage the approved supplier base while strengthening strategic supplier relationships.
Negotiate and manage supplier contracts to ensure competitive pricing, quality, and reliability.
Identify, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers in line with operational and sustainability requirements.
Drive strategic sourcing initiatives to support manufacturing operations.
Procurement & Inventory Management Oversee all purchasing and inventory control activities in line with company policies and procedures.
Forecast material and component requirements based on production plans and demand forecasts.
Optimise inventory levels to balance availability, cost, and working capital.
Act as ERP/MRP system champion for the materials and procurement function.
Supply Chain Risk Management Identify and mitigate supply chain risks including supplier disruption and logistics challenges.
Develop contingency plans to ensure business continuity.
Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective action plans.
Identify and secure alternative or secondary suppliers where required.
Performance, Analytics & Compliance Establish, monitor, and report on key supply chain KPIs.
Analyse data to identify bottlenecks, cost-reduction opportunities, and process improvements.
Ensure compliance with quality systems, ISO standards, and safety/environmental regulations.
Sustainability Integrate sustainability principles into procurement and supply chain activities.
Collaborate with suppliers to reduce environmental impact and improve sustainable sourcing.
Monitor and report on supply chain sustainability performance.
Candidate Profile Bachelor's degree in Business or a related discipline.
Minimum 5 years' experience in procurement or supply chain management.
Strong knowledge of purchasing, inventory control, and MRP/ERP systems.
Experience working in a lean manufacturing environment.
Background in an international, matrix organisation is highly desirable.
Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
Proven leadership skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
