Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Process Engineer to join our manufacturing team, focused on optimising moulding processes, tooling, and automation to deliver high-quality products that meet or exceed customer requirements.
This role is responsible for introducing new products into production, compiling process specifications, and ensuring ongoing process optimisation across existing lines. The Process Engineer will work closely with production, quality, and engineering teams, as well as customers and suppliers, to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the introduction of all new products into production, including compiling and maintaining standard process specifications.
* Monitor existing production processes to ensure compliance with defined standards.
* Optimise processes using statistical techniques, SPC, and DOE methodologies.
* Troubleshoot processing issues alongside Production Group Leaders.
* Build strong working relationships with customers, raw material suppliers, and equipment vendors.
* Support quality in resolving customer issues and implementing corrective actions.
* Deliver training on new processes, systems, and manufacturing skills.
* Develop and maintain production and technical documentation in line with ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 standards.
* Ensure continuous improvement through WCM, JIT, SMED, and Kaizen principles.
* Liaise regularly with suppliers and provide feedback to management on material and equipment performance.
Requirements
* National Diploma in Plastics Engineering (Degree in Engineering preferred).
* Experience in injection moulding, preferably in medical, packaging, or technology sectors.
* Strong knowledge of injection mould tooling, design, standard and multi-component moulding, ancillary equipment, and automation systems.
* Experience with SPC, DOE, and process optimisation techniques.
* Familiarity with WCM, JIT, SMED, and Kaizen principles.
* Knowledge of real-time monitoring systems (desirable).
* Proficiency in computer systems, integrated manufacturing systems, word processing, and spreadsheets (knowledge of MFG Pro advantageous).
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
* Willingness to travel as required.
