Key Responsibilities
Provide professional and clinical leadership, including coaching of clinical nurse manager colleagues.
Ensure safe, comprehensive nursing care for residents/patients/service users per the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland guidelines.
Manage, monitor and evaluate professional and clinical standards ensuring evidence‑based care planning.
Coordinate admissions and discharges with discharge coordinators, social workers and IDTs.
Implement best practice policies and procedures in conjunction with managers.
Maintain nursing records to comply with LPH and professional standards.
Lead clinical audits, research studies and quality management programmes.
Support staff in compliance with scope of practice and KPI data analysis.
Oversee unit rosters, activity staffing and work with OT Department on meaningful activities.
Manage bed utilisation and planning.
Ensure health & safety procedures comply with statutory obligations.
Implement infection control measures and vaccination campaigns.
Contribute to service development through education, research and staff training.
Provide managerial support: planning, budgeting, staff motivation, team building and liaison with external bodies.
Support CNMs in resource management, grievance handling and attendance policies.
Promote a culture of diversity, respect and continuous professional development.
Qualifications and Experience
Registered nurse on the Nursing Midwifery Board Ireland register.
Minimum 5 years post‑registration nursing experience in older persons services, including 3 years at a management level.
Management qualification at least QQI level 5.
Evidence of continuing professional development at an appropriate level.
Live annual registration and annual PSAC confirmation with the hospital.
Under 65 years of age unless classified as a new entrant.
Good character, full competence in health and ability to render regular service.
Demonstrated depth of experience in health care and willingness for further education to at least diploma level in infection prevention and control.
Strong leadership, team building, communication, problem‑solving, resilience and ethical stance.
Knowledge of quality assurance, HR policies, relevant legislation, infection control and IT skills.
