Job Description
Join our dynamic Nature team as a Consultant Ecologist in Dublin, benefiting from a flexible hybrid working model. AECOM is at the forefront of innovation, delivering an exceptional portfolio of Ecology programs and projects through long‑term partnerships with key clients.
We are currently working on a wide range of projects, including:
Major infrastructure projects, especially in the renewable energy sectors.
River restoration/flood management schemes, active travel projects, and urban regeneration.
Responsibilities
Organise and carry out desk studies and field‑based habitat, botanical, protected and non‑native invasive species surveys.
Undertake the analysis, evaluation, interpretation and presentation of ecological data, supporting the production of Ecological Impact Assessments and design of mitigation strategies.
Deliver protected species and habitat surveys safely; analyse results, conduct impact assessments and design and implement mitigation strategies.
Perform the role of Ecological Clerk of Works on construction projects.
Qualifications
Experience working in an ecology‑related role in the public and/or private sector, designing, coordinating, or leading field surveys.
Knowledge of UK and EC wildlife legislation and policy, particularly in Wales, and the Ecological Impact Assessment (EcIA) process.
Experience in botanical identification, undertaking Phase 1 Habitat/NVC surveys and/or protected species surveys (preferably bats or dormouse).
Adaptable and flexible approach to meet peaks in demand, including occasional longer or unsociable hours and working away from home for days or weeks.
Strong report‑writing skills with demonstrable experience producing a range of reports and providing ecological advice to clients and stakeholders.
