This client is a well-known public organisation within Healthcare with bases throughout the country. This particular role will place you in an office just outside of Cork City Centre.
Your new role
The Client provides a range of professional, technical, project management, property, fire & safety, and related services in respect of the procurement, development, operation, and maintenance of buildings, plant, and equipment. These services include design, specification, project management, supervision, and procurement associated with building and refurbishment works in the Cork /Kerry region.
Key Responsibilities
* Regular inspections of buildings, means of escape and all fire-fighting equipment, ensuring proper location, clear markings, good repair, and operational condition.
* Reviewing and drawing up fire orders, including evacuation schemes for various building types and institutions, with special consideration for mentally ill and non-ambulant patients, and preparing fire plans for all organisational buildings.
* Routine inspections of premises and equipment presenting fire risks, reporting breaches of fire prevention codes.
* Training staff on fire hazard avoidance, fire alarm operation, and means of escape.
* Managing fire outbreaks, preventing smoke spread, and evacuating danger areas pending fire brigade arrival.
* Organising regular fire drills and ensuring their proper execution.
* Testing and monitoring water supply adequacy for firefighting across divisions, reporting deficiencies.
* Ensuring hydrants are clearly marked and accessible.
* Advising on Fire Protection Standards and Building Regulations, ensuring compliance.
* Monitoring escape routes to ensure safety and operability, maintaining clear indicators.
* Keeping detailed records of inspections, fires, drills, and firefighting equipment.
* Reporting quarterly to the Engineering Manager on fire prevention activities and status.
What you'll need to succeed
* Level 7 qualification in Engineering, Fire Engineering, Architecture, Health & Safety, Building Services/Surveying, or equivalent.
* At least two years' experience in a similar Fire and Safety role.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
