Position: Staff Engineer - Mobile Apps
This role involves working on the team responsible for CVS customer-facing "Shopping & Health Super-power" apps, specifically the flagship CVS Shopping and Health apps. As a Staff Engineer, you will advance our architecture and mobile product, collaborating with design, product, and analyst teams to deliver excellent user experiences. You will work with Apps Platform Engineers, Product Managers, Engineering Managers, and fellow engineers to create seamless omni-channel shopping experiences. Responsibilities include participating in software engineering best practices across the full development lifecycle within the health and e-commerce domains.
About CVS Mobile Apps: This is the fastest-growing business unit with over a million daily users, comprising talented product owners and UX designers.
Work Breakdown:
You will focus on enhancing developer experience, updating complex foundational use cases, and creating integration-ready core features for mobile teams. Collaborating with Product, UX, and Engineering teams, you will iterate on features and improve the product, mainly focusing on architecture and code structure improvements with some feature development. Additional responsibilities may include:
* Improving and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and tooling support
* Driving solutions to reduce costs and accelerate time-to-market
* Managing end-to-end application delivery and deployment coordination
* Monitoring application health and KPIs, supporting issue triage
* Troubleshooting complex issues and performing root cause analysis
* Advocating for security best practices within engineering teams
Required Qualifications:
* 7+ years designing/developing Android applications
* 5+ years working with modern Android frameworks like Jetpack Compose and Kotlin
* 5+ years collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver user experiences
* 5+ years influencing best practices in large organizations for Android development
* 5+ years of accessibility experience
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with cross-functional teams and delivering great user experiences
* Expertise in mobile testing, CI/CD, static analysis, automation, and functional testing (Espresso)
* Experience designing retail or e-commerce apps
* Knowledge of OAuth and token-based authentication
* Contributions to published customer-facing apps on the Play Store
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
