Building Services Project Engineer Role
The primary function of the Building Services Project Engineer is to oversee the design, coordination, and delivery of building services systems. This includes overseeing air compressors and distribution, cooling tower water and chilled water systems, heat pumps, waste water systems, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) for the facility at the Dun Laoghaire site.
This role involves providing technical input from a client-side perspective, supporting design development, and ensuring system integration during construction, commissioning, and handover stages. Key responsibilities include:
1. Providing client-side technical input across all MEP disciplines within the project.
2. Liaising with Site Specialists and the Engineering Technical Authority to ensure alignment with standards.
3. Participating in design reviews to ensure proper integration between HVAC, electrical, Building Management Systems (BMS), and plumbing systems.
4. Supporting the development of MEP design packages, including drawings, URS, and specifications.
5. Reviewing vendor and contractor documentation as well as technical submittals.
6. Overseeing building services installation to ensure quality, compliance, and adherence to design intent.
7. Cordinating with construction teams and vendors to resolve technical issues in the field.
8. Providing support during FATs, SATs, commissioning, and qualification activities.
9. Ensuring building services are designed and implemented to meet sustainability and energy efficiency targets.
10. Contributing to project scheduling, cost control, and change management discussions.
11. Monitoring safety and regulatory compliance for all building services-related works.
This position requires a strong understanding of building services systems, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
