As a JCI accredited hospital, Blackrock Clinic is a progressive and pioneering hospital in which care for the patient is central to everything we do.Role purpose:The key purpose of this role is to lead and conduct clinical audits, with the aim of identifying gaps and recommend changes to clinical practices to ensure that optimum care is delivered to patients to achieve safe outcomes for all patients.The Clinical Auditor has primary responsibility for coordinating and managing clinical audits to ensure that the healthcare organisations follow proper procedures and protocols, and to check compliance with evidence based best practice as set out in policies, procedure and guidelines.To collate and analyse data in conjunction with the quality team and prepare audit data for the various committees and stakeholdersClinical auditors may also be tasked with identifying areas of improvement within the organisation. This could include anything from suggesting changes to processes or procedures to recommending new technologies or equipment.Qualifications:Clinical background is essentialQualification in auditing is desirableExperience with IT / administration systemsExperience in a Quality/ Healthcare environment desirableExperience working on own initiative and with multidisciplinary stakeholdersKnowledge & skills:Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with colleagues and other members of staff to ensure a high-quality service is provided to all, while constantly striving for excellence in patient/customer careExcellent organisation skills and ability to multitask and work under pressure when requiredExcellent problem-solving skills and positive attitude towards challenging situationsMeticulous and strong attention to detailIntegrity and reliability paramountKnowledge of an accreditation process an advantageKey areas of responsibility:To conduct clinical audits including but not limited to reviewing charts, other documentation, and observation of practiceTo Liaise with the Quality and Risk Manager to set up audit schedules and review current audit frameworksTo facilitate clinical audit work across the organisationTo provide advice guidance and support to staff undertaking clinical audit projectsEnsuring that audits comply with the principles of good practiceTo work closely with hospital departments in conjunction with the Quality team to provide reports and feedback on audits conducted.Develop an audit and monitor complianceValidate auditors in line with hospital policy and JCI /HIQA requirementsMain duties and key accountabilities:To review patient records or other data sources and accurately and completely record information in accordance with the audit design and protocolsMaintain strict confidentiality in relation to patient identifiable informationManagement of the clinical audit process and reporting on progress against clinical audit plansArranging case notes required for clinical audit projectsProvide information and advice to clinical and managerial staff on auditingTo help educate and train new clinical auditors throughout the organisation.To help develop new audit tools in conjunction with the Quality and Risk Manager and Head of Quality and Patient SafetyTo help demonstrate learning and improvements as a result of clinical audit outcomes in conjunction with the Quality and Risk Manager.Other duties:As a member of the Quality Department, the post holder will also have responsibilities for actively contributing to the wider patient safety and quality agenda including feedback on audit outcomes from clinical audit into practice development and improvement work.To help promote and support Best Practice within the Hospital leading by example to sustain a quality culture.To comply with Quality Standards striving for continuous improvementTo assist with the Accreditation process throughout the hospitalAttend and contribute to appropriate meetings when requiredTo undertake any other duties that may be reasonably requiredKey expectations of the candidate:Support the philosophy, vision, objectives and goals of Blackrock Clinic.Contribute to a positive working culture.Observe the appropriate lines of authority.Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all patients and the activities of Blackrock Clinic.Demonstrate flexibility by assisting in all areas of the hospital/clinic as required.Assist in orientation of new personnel as required.Continue to develop personal knowledge and skills and seeks outside educational opportunities.Present a professional appearance and conform to the dress, hygiene and infection control policies of the Clinic.Punctuality.Flexible attitude to changing work practices.At the Blackrock Clinic, we are passionate about our people and believe in their development and growth.
