Senior Podiatrist - Galway

Senior Podiatrists are required by Cpl Healthcare in Diabetes Integrated Care, East Galway Roscommon Integrated Care Hub in partnership with the HSE within both Community & Hospital Settings.

The National Clinical Programme for Diabetes (NCP Diabetes) was established in 2010 under the HSE’s Clinical Strategy and Programmes Division. Working under the direction of the National Clinical Advisor and Group Lead (NCAGL) for Chronic Disease and supported by the RCPI Diabetes Clinical Advisory Group, the aim of the NCP Diabetes is to save the lives, eyes and limbs of people living with diabetes in Ireland by:

• Decreasing morbidity and mortality through correct and early diagnosis

• Providing correct treatment based on best practice guidelines for treatment (self-management, primary care and secondary care).

The Podiatrist will offer treatment packages to adult service users who present with at-risk foot and those in remission from Diabetic Foot Ulcers (DFU). Working collaboratively with Clinical Specialist Podiatrist (Diabetes) and podiatry colleagues in the Multidisciplinary Foot Teams, there may be opportunities to be involved in the care of people with active foot disease also, delivering services closer to the patient’s home.

Job Responsibilities:

• Adhere to the HSE Diabetic Foot Model of Care

• Provide standardized high-quality diabetes foot management to patients at risk of developing foot complications and those in remission from DFU. There may be requirement to provide continued care to those patients with active foot disease, in line with the care plan developed by the multi-disciplinary foot team, providing care closer to the patient’s home in the community

• Work as part of a team or independently to ensure effective day-to-day co-ordination and prioritization of the podiatry service within the designated work / activity areas

• Co-ordinate clinic appointments, organize time and ensure deadlines are met

• Communicate with senior and/or junior staff, write reports, present data as required and specifically collect required access data of foot protection service that will facilitate audit

• Monitor and evaluate outcomes of treatment for individual patients

• Be responsible for the recording and updating of clinical records following assessment and treatment of patients

• Have a good understanding of a wide range of podiatric interventions and be able to apply them in a clinical setting as required. (Nail surgery, rheumatoid Arthritis, MSK)

The Candidate:

• A recognized qualification as a Physiotherapist with CORU registration

• Permission to work in Ireland

• Professional approach to work
