As a Solution Architect reporting to the Head of Architecture & Engineering, you will play a critical role in designing and delivering technology solutions that meet business needs while ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards and principles.
You will collaborate with cross-domain technology teams and subject matter experts to ensure solutions are fit for purpose, scalable, and aligned with business objectives and industry best practices.
You will translate business requirements into technical designs, define solution patterns, and provide architectural oversight across projects and programmes.
Working closely with product teams, delivery managers, and engineering teams, you will ensure that solutions are designed for integration, supportability, and operational sustainability - bridging the gap between strategic architecture and practical implementation.
This role is based in our Dublin office and will suit someone with experience of modern technology looking to innovate at pace.
Key Responsibilities: Solution Architecture & Design Translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and supportable technical solution designs aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
Produce and maintain solution architecture deliverables, including high-level designs (HLDs), low-level designs (LLDs), integration specifications, and supporting architectural artefacts.
Define and validate non-functional requirements (NFRs), including performance, availability, resilience, security, and scalability.
Produce architectural decision records (ADRs) to capture key design decisions, assumptions, and rationale.
Integration, Data & Cloud Architecture Design end-to-end integration solutions across OAK Global applications, platforms, and services.
Define API contracts, message schemas, and integration patterns to enable secure, reliable, and maintainable system connectivity.
Architect data flows in line with data classification, governance, and security policies.
Design solutions that leverage AWS cloud services and cloud-native architecture principles to deliver scalable, resilient, and modern platforms.
Delivery Leadership & Technical Assurance Work closely with delivery teams, providing hands-on architectural guidance throughout implementation and supporting the resolution of technical challenges.
Ensure solutions are delivered using modern technologies, engineering practices, and architectural patterns that support long-term maintainability and business agility.
Mentor SMEs and technical leads on architecture principles, patterns, and best practices.
Governance, Standards & Review Conduct architecture reviews for projects and change requests, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards, roadmaps, and strategic direction.
Present solution designs at governance forums and architecture review boards for challenge, endorsement, and approval.
Ensure delivered solutions comply with security, risk, compliance, and operational standards.
Technology Evaluation & Continuous Improvement Evaluate technology options and provide recommendations, including build vs buy assessments, based on business needs, strategic fit, cost, and technical suitability.
Lead proof of concepts (POCs) and technical spikes to validate architectural approaches and reduce delivery risk.
Contribute to the evolution of architecture standards, patterns, and reusable design approaches to support modern technology delivery across the organisation.
What Were looking For: Delivery leader with BA depth: comfortable switching between delivery planning and detailed analysis.
Experience in leading complex technology projects and delivering scalable solutions in a fast-paced environment.
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Experience with both in-house software development and third-party system integration.
Technical fluency: confident discussing APIs, data models, integrations, and cloud/Saa S trade-offs with engineers and vendors.
Influential communicator: able to simplify complexity and build consensus quickly.
Commercial mindset: connect technology decisions to measurable business outcomes.
Insurance/London Market familiarity: experience in (re)insurance or FS, ideally across underwriting, DA/binders, Risk Analytics, exposure, and actuarial/finance processes.
Excellent communication and influencing skills across all levels of an organisation.
A passion for executing strategic roadmaps that enable growth and transformation Nice to have: Experience delivering both in-house development and third-party system integrations.
Experience with AWS (e.g., IAM, EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway) and familiarity with cloud-native patterns.
Experience with Data Warehouse implementation and strategy Familiarity with market initiatives and standards (e.g., ACORD data standards, bordereaux and sanctions controls, market modernisation).
