Electrical Quantity Surveyor
Kiernan Electrical invites applications for the role of Electrical Quantity Surveyor with strong IT skills for projects based in Munster. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking for career progression and development.
The successful Electrical Quantity Surveyor will ideally come from an Electrician / Electrical Engineering background and will be based in Munster on a permanent basis. The role involves working across various contracts, ensuring maximum commercial benefit for the company and will entail delivery from tender stage through to final accounts and all encompassing duties in between.
Duties & Responsibilities
Review contracts and ensure compliance
Operate procurement activity and contract support in conjunction with the Procurement Department
Manage and forecast the cash flow of a series of projects
Commercially manage all projects to ensure accurate and reliable reporting
Provide data and analysis of issues and risks as required by management
Improve and implement best practice commercial processes and accurate budgeting
Ensure compliance with Contract Programme/Schedule and provide weekly reports to construction team on planned versus actual progress
Review all incoming correspondence from employers, design team, and/or subcontractors to identify contractually critical items and initiate replies
Ensure construction team is adhering to all contractual requirements and provide advice and monitoring
Control costs on all projects and ensure budgets are achieved
Manage client relationships from a commercial perspective and ensure all final accounts are agreed while retaining the business relationship
Proactively engage with project managers on all live projects to achieve business goals and protect the commercial interests of the company
Prepare progress applications and cost reports, and monthly management accounts for each project
Support the Commercial Director and take responsibility for the commercial assurance of the projects under management
Provide commercial assurance of project margin performance through accurate forecasting and identification of issues that give rise to commercial risk, manage commercial performance and cash flow
Manage subcontractor accounts, interim valuations and final accounts; ensure payment certificates are processed and payments made per agreed sub-contract and procurement terms; retain as per agreements
Administer contract obligations and meet additional client requirements; issue interim and final accounts and progress applications per project and contract requirements, including monthly applications that cover accurate remeasures, site changes, dayworks and any applicable contract claims; identify escalations, material or labour as appropriate
Required Qualifications
A strong technical background in contracting is essential
Proven track record of quantity surveying fundamentals
Strong operational skills, attention to detail, and experience in the design-build process
Knowledge of electrical engineering would be beneficial
Minimum of 4 years of experience working on building projects as a quantity surveyor or commercial manager
Third-level qualification in quantity surveying or construction economics
Good presentation and general management skills
Strong written communication abilities and negotiation skills to secure a strong commercial position for the company
Ability to multi-task and oversee multiple projects simultaneously
