Job Title: Mechanical & Process QA Lead Location: Swords, County Dublin Duration: TBCSalary: DOEMechanical QAQC Lead The Mechanical & Process QA/QC Engineer is responsible for overseeing and ensuring compliance with all mechanical and process quality requirements on piping installation projects.
This role involves close coordination with construction teams, welding crews, and third‑party inspectors to ensure that all work is executed in accordance with project specifications, codes, and client requirements.
The QA/QC Engineer will manage documentation, verification of inspection records, and final turnover packages to ensure smooth project closeout.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Welding & Documentation Gather, verify, and maintain accurate weld logs from site crews on a daily/weekly basis Transfer weld logs into Eida or other project database systems accurately and in a timely manner Cross‑check weld numbers, welders' details, and joint traceability against project weld maps and drawings Drawing Control Manage and update redline/as‑built drawings, ensuring all field changes are captured accurately Coordinate with engineering teams to issue final as‑built revisions in line with project handover requirements NDT & Inspection Coordination Gather Non‑Destructive Testing (NDT) reports (RT, PT, MT, UT, etc.) from third‑party inspectors Review and verify NDT reports for completeness and compliance with project codes and specifications Highlight and follow up on any non‑conformances (NCRs) or repair welds required Test Pack Compilation & Handover Build and maintain Test Packs (hydrotest, pneumatic test, cleaning packs, etc.) in line with project requirements Ensure all inspection records, weld logs, NDT reports, and punch lists are included in the Test Pack Support field teams in test execution, ensuring correct documentation of test results and sign‑offs Track and report progress of Test Pack status (open, in progress, closed) to the QA/QC Manager General QA/QC Duties Implement and monitor project quality procedures in accordance with company Quality Management System (QMS)Participate in internal and external audits as required Liaise with client QA/QC representatives to address comments, close out issues, and submit final handover dossiers Ensure all documentation is filed, maintained, and accessible for project close‑out and future traceability Requirements Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or related discipline3+ years' experience in mechanical piping installation or process plant QA/QCStrong knowledge of welding processes, codes (ASME, EN, etc.), and NDT methods Experience with Eida or similar project management/document control systems (preferred)Familiarity with hydrostatic and pneumatic test procedures and Test Pack compilation Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, isometrics, and shop drawings Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills Key Skills Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word) and database systems Clear communication and reporting skills Proactive problem solving and ability to work under pressure in a construction environment Strong teamwork and interface skills with site supervisors, welders, inspectors, and client teams
