CLS is currently experiencing significant growth and is looking for dedicated, solutions-driven professionals with a flexible approach to join our team. Founded in 1994, Complete Laboratory Solutions (CLS) is Ireland’s most highly accredited contract laboratory, providing industry-leading sampling, analysis, and skilled micro and analytical analysts on contract to clients across the food, environmental, medical device, biopharmaceutical, and pharmaceutical sectors. We deliver customised managed service solutions, allowing clients to have our expert team on-site at their own facilities or outsource those services to us here at CLS.


Job Title, Summary Reporting Line

CLS is seeking a Business Development Manager - Environmental to identify new business opportunities, expand market presence, and strengthen client partnerships within the environmental sector.

This role will focus on driving revenue growth through strategic business development, cross‑selling of services, and building sustainable client relationships. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of environmental testing, compliance requirements, and related laboratory services, coupled with a proven ability to deliver commercial success.

The position will require regular travel to client sites nationally and to our head office in Galway.

The Role


Sales Growth Strategy

* Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities within the environmental testing and consultancy market.
* Develop and maintain a robust sales pipeline through research, networking, and targeted outreach.
* Collaborate with the Commercial Director and Marketing team to develop strategies that drive revenue growth.
* Use CRM tools to manage the sales funnel, track performance, and report key metrics.
* Prepare tailored proposals, quotations, and tender submissions for prospective clients.
* Negotiate contracts and commercial terms that align with company goals and client requirements.
* Conduct market research to monitor competitors, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes.
* Represent CLS at industry conferences, exhibitions, and client meetings.


Client Relationship Management

* Build and maintain strong, long‑term client relationships by understanding their environmental compliance and testing needs.
* Serve as the primary commercial contact for environmental clients.
* Conduct regular client meetings to review performance, identify opportunities for additional services, and ensure satisfaction.
* Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless delivery of testing and consultancy services.
* Provide market feedback to leadership to inform strategic decisions and service development.


Qualifications Experience

* Bachelor’s degree in Science, Business, or a related discipline.
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in a business development, technical sales, or account management role preferably within the environmental testing, consultancy, or laboratory services sector.
* Knowledge of public procurement processes and tender preparation is a distinct advantage.
* Demonstrated success in achieving sales targets and developing new client accounts.
