RSK Ireland, part of the RSK Group, is recruiting a driven and passionate Ecologist to join our growing ecology team. This permanent full‑time position will be hybrid, allowing flexibility to work between home and office.
As an Ecologist you will deliver field surveys, assessments, tender and report writing and project management on Ireland-wide and local projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Managing small projects (with a mentor); assisting senior colleagues in managing the projects that RSK Ireland undertakes.
* Working alone and with our existing ecologists in the wider region to ensure quality projects are delivered on time to our clients.
* Completing fieldwork countrywide, travelling and working away from home as required.
* Continued professional development, attending conferences, training events, in house training events, etc.
* Good working knowledge and experience of ecology, legislation, and survey techniques, including protected species surveys and mitigation.
* Co-ordinating and undertaking fieldwork for ecological impact assessments and protected species surveys, including; preliminary ecological appraisal, EcIA, AA, etc.
* Potential advancement into working in a particular ecology discipline if desired e.g. ornithology, botany, bats, freshwater ecology, etc.
* Ensuring good communication and collaboration within ecology team, including; liaising with senior ecologists, and mentoring of junior team members.
* Acting at all times with professional integrity, and exercising sound professional judgement.
* A pro-active attitude to managing your own time, finding solutions and ensuring that work is delivered on time and to the required standards.
* Desk-top data collation and analysis, including liaising with relevant biological records organisation, and preparing protected species licence applications.
* Project specific desk-top research and keeping self and other team members up-to-date with relevant industry guidelines and emerging science.
* Writing of high quality data analysis and technical reports ready for review by your colleagues, such as ecological constraints reports, Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Ecological Impact Assessments, and protected species reports.
Person Specification: Essential
* A degree in relevant discipline ecology, zoology.
* 2 years plus specific relevant experience or proven, previous experience in a similar role.
* A full driving licence with access to your own vehicle.
* Membership of or working towards membership of CIEEM – level commensurate with experience.
* Desire and ability to work well within a team, with the ability to work independently.
