Head of Tribe Tech PaymentsWhat is the opportunity?This is an outstanding opportunity to inspire, shape and lead the technical vision for the payment change deliverly tribeThe Head of Tribe Tech oversees Tribe IT and Change Delivery Governance and resources, which includes managing financials and ensuring risk compliance. This role is responsible for aligning technology initiatives with business objectives and driving digital transformation in partnership with the Head of Tribe for Payments and other delivery tribes within the Group.In this role, you will;Shape and communicate the Tribe's purpose, vision, and strategic roadmap with the Business Line Director, ensuring alignment with wider enterprise objectives. Lead the delivery of the Tribe's mission by defining OKRs, driving their adoption, and ensuring clarity of priorities across Squads.Oversee cross?'Squad impacts from customer, business, and technical perspectives, embedding a customer?'first culture and optimising benefits while managing risks. Act as Tech Custodian by defining the Tribe's technology direction, setting and evolving the Tech Roadmap, and ensuring continuous, reliable technology operations.Lead and manage the delivery of technology initiatives, Tribe?'level ceremonies, and the performance of all technological assets. Collaborate with Tech Chapter Leads to build capability, develop technology professionals, and ensure effective knowledge sharing.Manage Tribe budgets, including change and operational spend, ensuring efficient resource allocation, value realisation, and alignment with strategic goals. Promote proactive risk ownership across Squads, ensuring compliance, operational resilience, and effective remediation.Prioritise and shape Product Roadmaps with the Head of Tribe, ensuring alignment with business value and strategic priorities. Oversee change, maintenance, and operations of platforms and applications within the Tribe's scope.Act as a key integrator across Tribes by managing dependencies, balancing trade?'offs, ensuring adherence to technical standards, and aligning practices with enterprise governance. Foster collaboration, transparency, and a strong organisational culture rooted in Agile leadership principles.Remove obstacles to delivery, ensure seamless integration of solutions, and maintain visibility of the Tribe's backlog and value delivered. Build strong relationships with business stakeholders to understand needs, expectations, and strategic direction.Oversee the day-to-day management of third-party vendors to ensure they meet the organisation's technical standards, security requirements, and quality expectations, utilising Tech Chapter Leads and CoE Leads.What will make you stand out?The successful candidate will have senior leadership experience in delivering complex payment?'system change within financial?'services environments, supported by a strong record of end?'to?'end delivery across payments platforms, card services, clearing systems, and operational processes. Your background includes shaping technology strategy and leading large?'scale system design and delivery across agile tribes, hybrid models, and traditional waterfall approaches, while managing multidisciplinary teams and driving alignment across diverse functions.You're familiar with Agile and DevOps methodologies and demonstrate strong judgement in prioritising initiatives and aligning them with business objectives. You also bring the ability to influence strategic decisions, drive engagement, and contribute meaningfully to organisational goals through clear, collaborative leadership.Essential QualificationsQualified in Technology, business, finance or a related fieldProfessional certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, Scrum master or Lean Six SigmaMore About The TeamThe Payment Change delivery function is a mature, experienced multi-skilled team accountable for the delivery of a significant volume electronic payments change on an annual basis. Bank of Ireland is a full service Retail bank in both ROI and the UK and participates in all payment schemes. Annual scheme and regulatory requirements across the payments estate is enduring and complex in nature. Payments change is a key enabler of the IT and Digital Strategy.This is a hybrid role, based primarily at Cabinteely Dublin. We typically ask colleagues to spend a minimum of 8 days per month working in-person to support collaboration and connection.
