Martin Ryan & Sons is a long-established transport and logistics company based in Cappamore, Co. Limerick. We are looking for an experienced Payroll and Accounts Officer to join our finance team. This is a hands‑on role reporting to the Financial Controller and will suit someone who enjoys responsibility, accuracy and working in a busy environment.
About the role
This position has a strong payroll focus, combined with the opportunity to grow and develop the accounts function alongside the Financial Controller. The successful candidate will help shape how the role expands within the finance team over time. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership and contributing to process improvement.
Key responsibilities
Payroll
Process end-to-end weekly payroll for 100+ employees, accurately and on time
Support Department Managers with any payroll queries relating to pay, deductions and statutory requirements
Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with legislation and company policies
Prepare payslips and payroll reports using Sage 50 & Sage Payroll, Brightpay, Excel & Bespoke IT systems
Maintains employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
Accounts and Finance
You will support the Financial Department with a range of accounting tasks, with responsibilities expected to grow over time depending on experience and business needs. This may include:
Processing supplier invoices and assisting with AP payment runs
Assisting with reconciliations, customer queries and resolving discrepancies
Supporting bank reconciliations and cashflow tracking
Assisting with month‑end and year‑end processes
Requirements
Minimum 2 experience in payroll and accounts
Strong working knowledge of payroll legislation, taxes and benefits administration
Experience in account reconciliation and financial reporting
Experience using accounting or payroll software such as Sage, or Brightpay
Proficiency in MS Office and in particular, strong Excel skills
Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks independently
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience in transport, logistics or a multi-site workforce
Third-level qualification in Payroll or Accounting
