Job Title: Lecturer School (or department): Faculty of Nursing & Midwifery Reporting To: Executive Vice Dean for Education Location: 121 St. Stephen's Green, Dublin Contract type/duration: Full time/3yr fixed term contract Closing date: 23:45 pm on Wednesday 19th of November Objective of this post: The principal objective of the post is to coordinate a suite of microcredentials for Nursing Home Managers working in the Residential Care Sector, in Ireland. The candidate will also support the delivery and coordination of a number of Continuous Professional Development (CPDs) Programmes in the Faculty. RCSI is seeking a professional who is passionate about teaching, who would like to contribute to working as an academic in a multicultural environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate energy, initiative and excellent organisation and communication skills. The post holder will worker closely with the Executive Dean for Education in the development and implementation of these new programmes. The post-holder will be based in the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery. Specific Responsibilities include: Participating in the administration, design, delivery, assessment and coordination of new educational programmes in the Faculty. We are establishing a number of new programmes in the Faculty and the post holder will provide support across these as follows Contributing to the development and introduction of new teaching programmes, teaching modalities and modes of assessment Liaising with colleagues across RCSI international campuses and beyond (i.e. other HEIs and the Health Service) in the facilitation, development and advancement of teaching activities Contributing to quality assurance/quality improvement and accreditation and evaluations of new/existing modules Performing such other related duties as may be required Representing the best interests of the Faculty and wider RCSI at all times Undergoing programmes of training and development as required Supervising undergraduate students and postgraduate students at Masters and PhD level Applying for and administering funding applications Person Specification Essential: Ph.D. degree or equivalent in the areas of Health Systems/Public Health is essential Strong teaching interest and skill set, as evidenced by experience of, a proven track record in, and enthusiasm for postgraduate teaching and assessment in areas relevant to Health Systems and Public Health. Internationally competitive research record, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications in journals of high quality/impact and grant support Enthusiasm for your specialist teaching area and the ability to engage your students to successfully transfer this passion and learning Capacity for original thought and the ability to produce original and up to date teaching methods An ability to continuously adapt and innovate teaching methods to ensure students' full understanding A high level of proficiency with online learning methodologies Demonstrate an interest in seeking ways and opportunities to support students' whole development. Person Specification Desirable: Experience of residential care settings Strong commitment to own personal and professional development Has excellent time-management skills to effectively progress across all three domains of responsibilities (teaching, research, and service) Can build and maintain strong working relationships Has a proven ability for both independent and teamwork Ability to engage with external stakeholders A qualification/CPD in teaching in an HEI Effective communication style appropriate to audience and situation We are all too aware that imposter syndrome and the confidence gap can sometimes stop fantastic candidates putting themselves forward, so please do apply - we would love to hear from you.
