Job Overview
A Security Consultant is a specialised professional responsible for safeguarding the security and integrity of an organisation's computer networks and information systems.
This role involves protecting against a wide range of cyber threats—including malware, hackers, and data breaches—by implementing robust security measures, conducting risk assessments, and promoting best practices.
We're looking for an adaptable individual with proven experience who is eager to embrace and learn new technologies and services in a fast‑evolving landscape.
You will collaborate with an established team to deliver expert guidance and solutions both internally and externally, supporting organisations across a diverse range of industry sectors.
Responsibilities
Security Assessment & Analysis
Evaluate existing security solutions for efficiency, optimisation, vulnerabilities, and improvement opportunities.
Conduct risk assessments to identify potential threats and assess their impact.
Troubleshoot and understand deployments involving firewalls, load balancers, and web proxies.
Analyse security logs and incidents to detect, investigate, and respond to breaches.
Security Strategy & Planning
Develop and implement comprehensive network security strategies and policies.
Recommend technologies and solutions to address identified risks and gaps.
Design disaster recovery and incident response plans.
Firewall & IDS/IPS Management
Configure, manage, and monitor firewall and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
Fine‑tune rule sets to improve security posture and reduce false positives.
Security Infrastructure Deployment
Design complex, enterprise‑ready security solutions.
Install, configure, and maintain security appliances and software across private and public cloud environments, including:
Firewalls
VPN Terminators
Load Balancers
Web Proxies
Advanced Network Detection & Response tools
Secure Access Service Edge (SASE)
Design and implement SASE solutions tailored to client environments.
Review existing deployments and provide recommendations for enhancement.
Network Access Control
Define and enforce access control policies to manage network access.
Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks and industry standards.
Incident Response & Remediation
Act as an escalation point for security incidents.
Conduct root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
Collaborate with IT teams to contain breaches and restore affected systems.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate records of configurations, incidents, and resolutions.
Create reusable templates and technical articles.
Produce regular security reports for internal and client stakeholders.
Present findings and project updates to management and clients.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
Vendor certifications (e.g., Check Point, Fortinet, F5, Netskope, or equivalent).
Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or Comp TIA Security+ are advantageous.
Proven experience in network security with strong knowledge of protocols, architectures, and fundamentals.
Hands‑on expertise with security technologies including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and SIEM.
Solid understanding of routing and switching (e.g., dynamic routing, VLANs, SPAN, VRFs).
Familiarity with regulatory standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, NIST, and ISO 27001.
Experience working in data centre environments, with a strong understanding of racking, cabling standards, and operational etiquette.
Excellent communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across teams.
